To be competitive in state schools you need at least a 26 P. Now keep in mind, the interview process is even more important than the MCAT. The MCAT is to weed out people.

If you up against a candidate who has a 4.0 gpa and a 30 MCAT, but can't hold a conversation and appears unfriendly, you'll get that seat. Good scores will get you in the door, but appearances are everything.

i would say around 20- med school is very competitive. you should go for the highest that you can. also, while you're in college make sure you obtain honors or dean status. and join clubs like pre-med society.
