A poodle. They are the most protective of their owners. Slightly inefficient at scaring people. Maybe you should get a giant poodle with a gun. That would scare me.

I love your questions. And no I'm not a lesbian!!!!

There is no "best breed". A friend of mine teaches protection trainning to dogs, according to him the dog must be friendly, that if the dog is too agressive he should not be taught protection training. The best dog in his class right now is a 35lb mutt (no idea what he's mixed with), but he can take down a 200lb man wearing those protection suits, then just runs back to you with his tail wagging.

get a Great Pyrenees..This dog is fabulous..it is a good guard dog, because it is a sheep dog, and is used to guarding..it is loyal to the family, and will give its life to protect the family flock.. it was the royal dog of Louis 14 th of France, and was used to guard the palace...it is easy to train, and is eager to please the owner...it is great with children, and will not snip or bite..it sleeps against the front door instinctively, to guard the house..anyone who wants to come into the house, has to get past the Great Pyrenees that is guarding the home..it is a large dog, so it looks intimidating, yet it is a sweetheart to the family members, but menacing to strangers..my father in law tried to come in my house through the garage door, before i arrived home, and the dog would not let him enter the house..she stood there and growled, like, don't even think about it, yet did not bite or attack him, yet stood her ground, protecting the home..an unbelievable breed, just fabulous...check petfinders.com..this is a site for rescue groups..just put in your zip code for Great Pyrenees, and be Amazed at how many choices you have....i recently adopted a Great Pyrenees mix from them, and my dog Sylvester is wonder full....check it out....adopt a dog....do a good deed....good luck to you...any more questions on Great Pyrenees, holler back at me ...research this breed....you won't believe, what a great dog this is !!!

german shepards are protective, but they usually have to be trained. THE BEST type of guarddog is a dog from the street that isnt to old or too young. they are very protective, and bark at almost everything they dont no. because they probably grew up with no mother, they know how to take care of themselves, and usually their way of takin care of themselves is being protective and on the tips of their claws.

I would want to get a German Shepard. They are use as police dogs and they are taken home with the trainer and they interact with the family. I am sure there are other kind that are good also but they do use alot of GSD.

Technically there is no "best" but here are some good breds: German Shepards, Dobermans, Great Danes, Rottweilers, Boxers, Pitbulls, Labrodor Retriever. Well good luck!

German Shepards are your very best option. Rot's have an ability to snap on owners once and a while, Mastifs have loyalty issues. G.S. are very loyal, extremely protective, and are very intelligent.

The best BREED of dog a guard dog is German Shepard. They're loveable, but they will also guard you with their lives.

do you want the dog to WARN you about people coming around the house, to be protective, to scare people, or to be willing to attack?

which of these you want determines what type of guard dog you want, and what sort of training the dog and you should get.
