Always thought about this!
if it was true and were beleiveable then wouldn't there only be 1 religion we only breath air! not air and water and dirt!
Some things lead me to beleive that is a governement group! it's an easier way to have them brain wash you to do good things! i mean they do put stuff in our water to make our teeth stronger! so then to make it sound even better lets do a seperation of church and state so no one thinks we made the hole thing up! I beleive in treating people how you want to be treated!
your views are welcome--- ps don't try to change me! i just want your views~! Thanks

It's all been part of the big "plan" from the beginning of time. It's seperation into different religions where some are more lenient than others(Southern Baptist), some more strict (Catholic). This causes conflicts of interest, and war such as the one going on in the middle East still, it's all about religious beliefs.

Who cares about all that? I agree with you, treat others how you want to be treated. Peace, love, and happiness is what I'm all about. I don't even categorize myself in any group religious or not. I'm a lover of all, hater of none, and I try to live by Karma...

There are different religions because there are different people all over the world who have responded to the "Ultimate Truth" in various ways. Sometimes this is called the "numinous" - it's the sense that there is a holiness or "otherness" out there in some form. But how do you describe something that is so "other"? It is so beyond what you know, it can't be compared very easily to anything else, and so the descriptions of this ultimate reality are going to vary from culture to culture.

Oftentimes, what happens is the natural religion of the people - that is, the way that people just naturally feel inclined to describe and relate to the Ultimate Reality of the Universe - gets organized. There are people appointed as authorities and so on, to the point that things can become corrupt - as is the possibility with ANY power structure, because that's human nature. But if you will look at the core of each of the religions, I think that you find that they all start with a description of the Ultimate Reality and a method for relating to It. That underlying thread is what can unify the religions, I believe. If people would realize that they are looking at the same phenomena from different angles, then everyone could gain a broader view of the phenomena and respect each others' vision and description.

Certainly one can find numerous conspiracies between government and religion throughout history, however they've also conspired against one another quite often so the idea that they've been secretly collaborating all this time is a bit hard to imagine.

Rather the variety of religions (and sub-sets of religions) is more likely due to the fact that spirituality is probably the most personal choice one can make, thus this really isn't a one-size-fits-all type of issue. In fact, this is why I've always felt that to be a truly spiritual person one can not follow a book or the teaching of their local religious leader, but rather they should develop a personal belief that resonates best with them. I mean, if you think about it, did any tell Moses, or Jesus, or Muhammad, or the Buddha how to live a spiritual life?

I personally think it is the Devil's way of keeping humans from finding the way God wants us to worship him. God has requirements for all of us.

Jesus started one true Christian religion. So today there must be just one body, or group, of true worshipers of God. (John 4:23, 24; Ephesians 4:4, 5) The Bible teaches that only a few people are on the narrow road to life.—Matthew 7:13, 14.

The Bible foretold that after the death of the apostles, wrong teachings and unchristian practices would slowly come into the Christian congregation. Men would draw away believers to follow them instead of Christ. (Matthew 7:15, 21-23; Acts 20:29, 30) That is why we see so many different religions that claim to be Christian. How can we identify true Christians?

well first of all the reason for more than one religion is because they can't figure out the true story's and I for on know that the bible is a story book most of what is written is 3,4, or 5th hand and most of the ones that are stated were not even around there for that is a story and a poor one at that.. If you do the research you would find that there was no Adam and eve and that the world wasn't created in 6 days and he rested the 7th it was created in 7 different stages..feel free to email me if you would like more info

Yah...I wonder if Religion is perpetuated to control the weak minded because they might do really senseless things without it. But it backfired. They do them and often the people perpetuating then are more small minded just big egos. Though I think it is good that people think about the great mystery, it helps them be whole people, and in that way religion will be a diverse as people are.

Well, fact is that nobody really knows God.

And there are a lot of them who just said that they "knew", "Spoke" with and even had "orders" from God; strangely enough contrary to the other guys saying; and voila, a new "faith" was born.

Pity about it, but almost every religion and it's denominations are founded on lies. Though there is some good also to be found there.

All the best.

Cheers.

The prolification of religion started with the fall of the archangel, Lucifer and his decent on Earth as Satan. Once Satan decended with power and authourity and human beings were given the choice of will to do or undo whatever one chooses, the diversification of religion as matter of choice is open to everybody.
Apart from this, the individual's search for the TRUE God is beyond limitation.

Religion is man-made. It's an attempt to explain the things around us we do not understand. It's also a way to trick our mind not to be scared of things like death. It evolved in seperate locations so of course everyone has their own idea of what is "right".
