Without enrolling your daughter in classes, I would recommend you lead by example. Get outside with her and jump rope, go for a walk, ride a bicycle, go to the park and play on the equipment together. Children typically learn "laziness" by our example of preferring to be couch potatoes.
If you do want to spend some money, check into your local rec center or YMCA, even local high school. Some places offer a parent/child swim class. There's also summer camps and several other classes where she can interact with children of her own age.
Good luck!

Break the TV and video games. Then turn the A/C up. That should motivate her to get out of the house. Then take her somewhere.
Seriously though, take her somewhere....anywhere. The pool, the mall, sporting event. Just moving around and walking is great. Take her shopping with you. Let her pick what to buy. Ride bikes with her. etc. Take her to see organized beginner sports, softball, soccer, dance lessons etc. It will show her she can do just as well. She if she likes any of them. Then get her enrolled. Maybe teach her to cook. List is endless.

put in a pool. She will have tons of friends begging to come over but that will get her moving. Go camping. Go hiking. Go on a picnic and take your bikes. Take a bus ride to town and walk the blocks checking out museums, cafes or cute little shops. Go to the zoo. All of these places make you walk. m

Enrol her in dance lessons! Dance is usually fun and is light impact exercise. Also, it gives her a chance to be social. Contact your closest dance studio, they have different programs from tap to jazzercise to hip hop, and it's not that expensive for kids.
Also, going to the park, walking, hiking and camping gives you and your daughter the opportunity to exercise and bond at the same time. Good luck!

Given that she was ill, I think the best thing would be to consult a nutritionist, who can tailor the diet to her needs. Also, I wouldn't try to emphasize losing weight. Instead, I would emphasize healthy eating--lots of fruits and veggies and such. That will teach good eating habits without privation.

Take her to the "Y" for gym classes, swimming or karate. Kids love doing things with other kids and it doesn't take much to get them involved. I applaud you for trying to bring some physical activity into your child's life as all parents should do. You, my dear, are a great mom!

Biking is both fun and lets kids be more mobile. Hiking is great fun and exercise too.
