The best bow for hunting is one that fits you well and that you can shoot comfortably from multiple positions. Don't worry too much about weight, my wife killed a fine black bear with a bow set at 42lbs. Ted Nugent sets his bow around 50lbs. That being said try shooting some bows at an archery dealer. Find one that fits you well and is quiet and smooth. Decide if you are shooting fingers or a release. If you are shooting fingers choose the longest bow that you can find (axle to axle distance) they will be more forgiving to bad form. Just make sure you clear the tree branches away from the path of your limbs.
Good luck and bloody arrows to you

Listen to Barry. There are tons of options and each one work a little different for everyone. Buy good quality because that usually translates into a quiet bow that won't spook the animal when you release the arrow. After that, it's all about personal preference. You can't go wrong with Matthews, Hoyt, Archers Research or something along those lines.

I have a darton lightning that is 4 or 5 years old. I set it at the lowest poundage and it stills drops arrows deep at 25 yards. I will have no probelm getting a clean pass thru shot with that one.
