I don't know of any vet that would declaw a dog unless there was medical reasons to do so, but I'm sure that the procedure could be done. I highly doubt the "average" vet would have experience with this, though.
So, tecnically, yes, it could be done, but wouldn't unless there was a medical reason to do so. I'd rather see your dog have it's claws removed because of an infection that isn't clearing up (or something) than to have it euthanized or end up dying in pain and misery, but I can't think of a single reason to have their claws removed other than medically necessary. But then again, I also can't think of a reason why anyone would want their cats declawed, and that happens all the time "just because".

The handiest claws that are meant to be eliminated are the dewclaws (appear like little thumbs) That must be performed while they're domestic dogs or while they're "out" to be spayed. Declawing a cat is composed of doing away with the complete final joint of the toe. NOT an effortless surgical procedure to get well from! One factor you could check out, is to make use of a dremel both to trim the nails or to take off the razor-sharp edges after they've been clipped within the usual approach.

A dog's nails can NOT be removed like a cat's can, because they are NOT retractable like a cat's are. The only thing you can do is to keep them trimmed. If you are going to do this yourself, watch out that you don't cut them to short or you will hit the quick, and the dog will bleed. Good luck.

NO! Do not do that. It is like having your fingers cut off! That would be extremely cruel & painful! Take the time to train your dog & learn to cut his claws or take him to the vet or groomers to have the claws trimmed.

I don't think so their nail is different than that of a cat.
