What do you think of that?

I thought it was awesome. I get so tired of other bicyclists not paying attention to the rules of the road, acting like they own the planet. Until they get hit by a car because they were not following the laws of traffic. I realize that motorists make mistakes to and sometimes don't see a bicyclist, most often though, of the ones I have personally witnessed the bicyclist wasn't following the laws.

The tickets were $81. It did irritate me though that while he was writing out a ticket a group of 4 or 5 bikes went through the stop sign too. He didn't stop them so it isn't really fair.

Believe me I understand he was only one guy and I applaud him for the job he did. And of course I can't expect him to get everyone. I just wish he could have had a number dispenser or something...."Ok, now writing a ticket for #36....That's #36." On second thought that wouldn't work either, I bet suddenly there would be no one with #36.

I realize he is human I just wish he had more help.

well, he IS getting the point across, and more power to him, for his courage of his convictions to write the ones that he did! A STOP sign is placed there for a reason and cyclists need to know that they are not above the law!! I wish I could have been there to help him!

I'm with you on that point about bicyclists expecting cars to follow rules of the road, but dont bother with those rules themselves. I consider myself a very good driver, with no tickets since 1887, and no tickets for the 15 years before that.

I have told my friends that, if I ever do get into an accident, it will be because I didn't see a bicyclist riding on the wrong side of the street. (since then, I've added, a bicyclist on the sidewalk suddenly deciding he'd rather be on the street)

The only part about your entire statement that I think is unfair is your expectation for that one officer to catch and ticket every offender in sight. Who knows what his reasons were for not stopping the other cyclists. Maybe he'd seen this one guy messing up on prior occasions.

wow in texas the tickets given to cyclists not stopping at a stop sign are $150, now that's not really fair... The reason he didn't stop the other cyclists when he was giving out tickets to the group was because they also catch you randomly, i do a lot of competitive biking and charity rides and this happens often, they chose a couple of cyclists randomly, even if there are 50 cyclists running a stop sign, they'll probably just give 10 of them a fine... It's a method they chose to teach them to stop since you never know when you're gonna get caught

Amen! More power to him! And since he is only one man he can't catch everyone, but it sends a message...that will no doubt be ignored anyway.

Look...in an accident between a car and a bike it ain't gonna be the buy in the car who ends up in a wheelchair or dead. Same with a motorcycle. So as much as car drivers should be aware of bikes and motorcycles, those riders need to remember that "I had the right of way" will be small comfort when you are unable to walk. Or when it is carved on your headstone. Obey the traffic laws, nimrods...they are for YOU, too.

I think it is about time bicyclists get cracked down on!

Hey VINCE M driving since 1887 without a ticket and 15 years before that, I think it is time you hung up your car keys after driving for 134 years your eyesite and reflexes probably aren't up to par...

Hip hip hooray, around here they are suppose to follow the rules of the road, but they would rather do it their own way, but if you ever hit one you are in Big Trouble, I say they should build their own roads, they are a menace around here on our country 2 lane roads.More power to the law who can teach them a thing or two.

Who ever said that ANYONE was above the law. If I break the law I should have to pay the consequences as should a wayward cyclist.
