Aspartame is not alcoholic, for those who are wondering.

However, I would suggest giving your doctor a call. It's probably better to stick with water and juices wherever possible.

you know, people are going to tell you all different things.. I heard that any carbinated beverage sounds like bombs blowing off in the babies ears. but during all my pregnancies i drank diet sodas and my kids are all fine.. I was diabetic during 3 or of 4 of my pregnancies and my doctor actually told me to drink diet sodas, rather than fruit juice or milk. of course water is the best.. a soda or coffee isnt going to really harm the baby. Just dont drink alcohol! I drank a diet soda every day... you can always drink those diet sodas that contain splenda, they are supposed to be better for your body than aspertame..

There are conflicting reports on the safety of aspertame, even for the general public. I have Lupus and many seem to think that my constant ingestion of Aspartame may have cause me to contract this illness. I am uncertain of the effects it might have on your baby, but I know that the docs always tell me that moderation, or better yet...stopping all together.... is your best bet if you don't know. Hey, it's only for 9 months. lol Good luck :)

You can drink soda, but just don't drink too much of it.
I would keep off the aspartame if I were you, it has been studied for whether or not it could cause cancer in infants. To be on the safe side, just use splenda, it is more natural than aspartame.
Better safe than sorry.

Go get a book called " what to expect when you are expecting". It's the pregnancy bible and will help with all these questions. Your question as well as many others that you would not expect is in there. It's excellent in describing all of these little things that worry moms and help distinguish when something is "normal" or not.
Good Luck!

One single Pepsi won't harm your baby. You shouldn't live on the stuff though. Water is the BEST thing you can drink.

I don't think one will hurt, but I wouldn't recommend it. Not only is it unsafe for the baby, but it can cause cancer for you. anything diet is not good for you or your baby. Drink water. It's better for you and the baby. anything with caffeine including chocolate, you should avoid during your pregnancy. A little is ok but it's not good. I asked my ob/gyn when I was pregnant with my daughter.

You clearly seem concerned, so why run the risk? Surely you have water available. Besides your body needs water now more than ever before. Take the better safe than sorry approach.

No, it can cause brain damage in the child! Consult your physician for specific details on the detrimental effects of alcohol on a fetus
