Your verse is found in 2 Thes. 2:11. Just like when God hardened Pharaoh's heart so that he would be made an example of God's wrath, and strength, love for the children of Israel.
God makes people not understand the events He pre-ordained in the scriptures so that they wouldn't make a decision for faith based on fire insurance instead of choosing to follow Him based on His will for our welfare within this life as well as the next. The signs of the times are all over the news. All we need do is compare these news events to what God foretold to see that the so-called countdown clock is past 11:30 and nearing midnight. Very few things predicted in the scriptures are left to be fulfilled before the coming of the end.
Things like the nation of Israel being re-established after 2000 years of non-existence. No other nation in all of history has ever been re-established after being destroyed, especially after so many years. This is a miracle in and of itself. We are among the last nations to support Israel and the Bible says that all the nations will turn against Israel. Right now, half of this nation is against supporting Israel and they are scratching for political control of this nation. When they get it, they will turn our official stance toward the Middle East conflict in favor of the Arab/Muslim community despite the fact that if we suffered the same attacks as Israel, we would react as strongly as we did over 9/11. Every day Israel suffers through rocket attacks targeting innocent civilians, and every day Israel is condemned by the UN and the Arab nations for targeting military targets who are hiding among civilians. The world calls the Israelis morally equivalent to the Hezbollah and Palestinian terrorists. In order to do this, they have to be denying the obvious truth that anybody else would answer this violence in much more violent ways. Take for example our response to 9/11 in Afghanistan and Iraq. If Israel is to survive, they have to root out the dangerous element of their neighbors. They are prevented from doing this by the world communities threat to condemn them for what any other nation would do for its survival.
This applies to each individual's personal life as well. If you do not want to honor and follow God, then they have to deny the obvious truth of God's work in their own lives and bull headed, go about their own will, especially when that will is directly involved in what God has called abomination. Like the gay lifestyle, like bearing false witness against their neighbor, etc., etc.,

Probably the belief in the Antichrist. Remember that it is sent because of their own deceitfulness and hatred of the truth.
