We? I assume from your name "we" would imply criminal lawbreakers from south of the border?
As an AMERICAN married to a LEGAL immigrant from England, I can assure you that I feel very strongly that lawbreakers who ignore the rules and scream entitlement, while not assimilating and sucking dry the teet of goodwill that is America, should not get amnesty.
Why? Simple. You try waiting in line after line after line. Filling out endless reems of paper work. Spending your hard earned money (we pay taxes you know) on one form after another. Being interviewed, and being judged. And then waiting for years and years for citizenship, only to have some ******* who broke the law rewarded with "amnesty". See how that would make you feel.
Go back to your own country. Fix the problems there.
See here in America we didn't like how the British were taxing the crap out of us and keeping us down, so we had a little revolutionary war. Try it, it might help.

This is a very hard question for me to answer. I am torn between two worlds. On one side I have my family, my roots, my history and on the other side I have my country and my children's country and the law.
I don't think amnesty is the solution. In the 1980's when the first amnesty was granted, people thought that that was the end of illegal immigration. Now its 2006 and here we go again. Let's say that 11 million people get amnesty. Who's there to say that we wont have another 20 million wanting amnesty in 2020?
The law is the law. Without laws their would be anarchy and chaos. How can I, enter another country illegally, and demand rights and other benefits? We wont see it in our lifetimes. But the U.S. is going to become bankrupt due to mismanagement by our very own government. It cannot afford to continue with this immigration situation to boot.
As stated before I don't think amnesty is the solution but there is no other choice. We cannot deport everyone. What about their U.S. born children? I say give them all amnesty and then enforce, truly enforce our immigration laws. Severely punish those employers that hire illegals. Severely punish those illegals that break our laws. When this happens then we will truly have achieved immigration reform.

Amnesty is a pardon for criminals and I believe criminals don't deserve a pardon. They deserve punishment. If you look at logically....anyone asking for Amnesty is admitting they are a criminal. Pardoning 12 million criminals isn't my idea of a good thing Juan. Why can't you just do it right and legal? America has given you that much, we've given you a way to become American with pride and dignity. What kind of legacy do you want to leave your children? Are you going to tell your baby's, "you're American citizens because your Daddy was a criminal BUT America pardoned me."? Be a real man and do it legal, make your children proud Juan.

sorry Juan, america's already been down this road with mexico before, something's gotta change in how we do business...I like hispanic people just fine, but Mexico and points south are about 12 kinds of screwed up these days, and frankly we just don't have homes for em all. Mexico needs to reform, why don't you work to fix your own country? After all the tens and probably hundreds of billions we've dropped into Mexico by now, it's still a catastrophic failure of a country that can't/won't support its' own damn people. What happened to all that money, Juan, when's Mexico going to finally get off its' *** and get independent?
Between the ag production and the mineral resources they have, Mexico could be rolling in cash, and there'd BE no illegal immigration. But no, but no, why IS that, Juan? I'll tell you: Because the people won't stand up and stare down corruption and take charge of their own damn country by majority rule/vote.
I'm all about seeing that border fence built, I think that's a great idea. And, putting the Border Patrol behind it with whatever they need to get the job done. Amnesty? No thanks. While you're at it, Juan, put your foot in the Catholic Church's *** and tell em no more with the 14 kids...

Because you are a criminal invading trespasser. If you broke into my house, I would not reward you. Your ugly attitude is another reason you don't deserve amnesty. You think you are falsely entitled to everything here when you are not.

Because you broke the law and we don't want another 12 million of your country men lining up on the border when "amnesty" is announced. Get legal, learn English, assimilate or get the hell out of my country!

Because you have violated the laws of a sovereign nation.
You have circumvented the prescribed immigration process and have chosen to sneak across the border.
You've taken one of our laws lightly and dared to break it, why should we think that you'll be a good resident during your stay here and abide by our other laws?
Personally, I think sneaking across a country's border should be regarded as an act of espionage and should be treated as such.

I like what gokart said. Sorry, Juan, the USA don't take kindly to illegal, freeloading invaders. Laws are there to prevent the USA from becoming like Mexico. Don't come here if you can't follow the law. Ha Ha!! Deportation is on the UPSWING!!!
