How can a small country like Israel afford this money?

Yes, I agree that preserving human life is more important than money. But who is spending the money helps show who is responsibile for the lost lives (and I am not forgetting that the terrorists are speniding money too).

It's probably not as much as you'd think since Israel is firing alot of artillery shells that are not too expensive. Most of the cost could be in jet fuel for the air strikes. They are losing equipment too but they have alot of it. Plus no travel expense since they are next to each other.

So I think it'd be in a few Billion range. The United States will probably give them alittle more foreign aid or weapons to make up for what has been exhausted.

The cost will be yet another new generation of Lebanese and Palestinians growing up with the intention of making the ultimate sacrifice in order to try and defend their increasingly threatened peoples.
It does not occur to Israelies that one day they too will be faced with weapons of mass destruction and the result could be total destruction of all peoples in the region.
The americans don't care because any potential theatre of future nuclear war will be far away (just like in the cold war).
Israel currently needs this conflict in order to justify it's continued land grab and to further its quasi - apartheid in the name of national security.
History shows us that communication and negotiation is the route to peace with terriorists and not conflict, which only tends to spiral.
If it were not for this continued conflict the Israel Liberal Left and the Fascists on the right would probably be fighting each other.

In monetary terms the USA taxpayer is helping to pay for most of the Israel military hardware and weapons development program (including development of weapons of mass destruction such as nuclear , chemical and biological ). The biological program includes development of a killer virus for indescriminate destruction of populations whilst utilising a genetic marker to protect it's own citizens.
|In addition it should be remembered that the USA is the world's biggest debtor and the american government survives by issuing billions of dollars of treasury debt which is bought mostly by China and Japan (and to a lesser extent Britain and others).
The Chinese and Japanese loan this treasury funding to the USA largely in an attempt to keep their own currency artificialy low so that they can export more to the USA and further threaten US manufacturing Jobs. The problem is that in having their Jam today The Chinese and Japanese are unlikely to ever be repaid fully on their loans as the amount is so enormous.
You could argue that in keeping the USA afloat, the Chinese and Japanese are indirectly contributing to the funding of all USA international interests including Israel.

How can an impoverished **** hole like Iraq keep up their fight? Or where does the 3rd world dust pit of Somalia get its funds from? Who funds Hezbollah & Hamas? They are not even "countries", so is that a sure indication that a country like Iran and or Syria are funding them?
