Some informants are registered with the Police Department, and they are paid by the Police Department. But some Police Officers do have their own informant whose are not registered, then, they will have to pay off their own pocket.

Normally that cost is covered, sometimes a cop will take it out of their own pocket but if a little bit of money will get a criminal off the streets I'm willing to pay that as a tax payer. The only thing is that they don't get a reciept, so if the converstion isn't recorded it is hard to keep records of those kinds of transactions.

That money comes from the seized money.
It's not from the budget, but it's kept locked up tight as evidence.
