It depends on your culture. Traditionally in American/English we have considered Jesus to important a name to give to another person. But in Latin culture naming they name people Jesus to shown respect for their Savior. Moses is not in the same category, besides being a funny sounding name there is nothing wrong with that one. The reason why Jesus is different is because the Bible teaches that Jesus is God. So in American Christian culture naming you child Jesus is equating him with God.

I have never heard of a person named Jesus (other than the pronunciation of Hey Suess) except in the song Levon by Elton John.

I guess it isn't "wrong" per se, but the child might be teased and the name will consistently be mispronounced as "Hey Suess."

The way the Spanish pronounce children named Jesus is how they pronounce the biblical name Jesus. So in essence, millions of people think it's ok.

It really is, just a name.

I don't think there is anything in the bible against it. But I think you and he will catch Hell (pardon my turn of phrase) from other people. Plus most people will start pronouncing it the Spanish way. I just say avoid it and save the kid the grief.

That's awesome. If I have a kid, I'm naming it God.

Spanish-speaking people pronounce the biblical Jesus as "Hay-Zeus", so it is not disrespectful.

No, Christ was not the first person to be named Jesus.

I don't see why it would be a problem. I was a name like any other name in the bible and it's not copywrite like Michael Jordan's.

no I don't think so but if you name your child Jesus be prepared to have him come home with his butt whipped on the first day of school.
