When I was little I was always at the park or playing with my dolls. Now I find that the parks are bare and more kids are inside watching tv or playing video games. Have you noticed the same thing in your area and with kids that you know and why?

Because so many electronic things have upgraded and we didn't have any of that stuff, except for TV etc. But we had imagination. We pretended to be cowboys in the wildwest or a princess trapped in a castle waiting for her prince, well atleast I did. I pretended alot. I even had an imaganary friend named Sammy. He was a ferret. Hehe. But now they have Tv and video games and the internet. They just don't want to get outside and play anymore. I've noticed that too. But my little girl Riley is outside riding horses all the time so I don't have to worry about getting her outside. Horses is a wonderful hobby to get kids into.

TV and video games are a convenient babysitter. If you look around, you'll see more adults inside watching TV as well instead of being outside and being active. Also, the world's not the same place it was when we grew up. It's not as safe to let your kids out to play with all the emphasis on child predators these days. We're very fortunate to live in a rural environment where everyone looks out for each other kids and I also work from home so I'm able to monitor the kids. Many places aren't as fortunate. I do feel that parents can set better examples for their children and get out with them and do outdoor activities together more than many do.

Life for kids has definitely changed since I was growing up. We had more freedoms because the world was a safer place. Parents today feel the need to keep their children in protective eye-sight at all times, and justifiably so. That's why you don't see them out running around by themselves very much. Plus, technology has advanced to the point where they have more to do inside now than we did. It's not all bad, and it's not all good. Kids do need a balance though.

Depends on the families and what they instill in their children. But, yes, statistics have proven that most children are spending more time inside watching/playing video games, on my space, etc.

though a lot of this does have to do with recent technology i also think parents are partially at fault they do not let their children go out and run around and play games anymore because they're so worried about them getting hurt, stolen etc. and as soon as someone sees teenagers out having a good time they immediately think they're being little hooligans gettin drunk etc and that they should be at home where they're safe....its riddiculous how ppl think nowadays isnt it!!??!

kids have changed. They still do like there toys, they just watch t.v a lot. I think I read a average kid has watched 3 years of t.v. by the time they are 17 Unless the parents limit t.v. kids are t.v. Attucks.

Children keep watching tv and their thinking power get restricted. find interest of kid and encourage them to do drawing, craft, telling stories, listening stories etc. My son is interested in what i cook in kitchen and i allow him to observe to distract him from watching tv..
