Believe it or not, many people on the Slim Fast diet actually gain weight. Those shakes have a ton of sugar, look at the nutrition label. The soy varieties have less sugar, but they are not exactly appetizing. At 13, you're still growing. You might consider eating sensibly -- cut out the junk like candy, chips, soda, fast food and start eating more fruits and veggies, lean meat, etc-- to maintain your weight and increase the time you spend outside running around with your friends. You are at the perfect age to start adopting habits which will last your lifetime. I give my 13 year old more choices and freedom now since he's shown me that he can be responsible w/his health. One last thing, setting a time limit, like 3 wks, on how long you're going to be on a diet to lose a specific amount of weight will backfire in about 4 weeks. Make a lifetime plan that works for you!

Slim Fast? It did not even paintings for my 36 yr historical mom! Here's what you'll drink. Water. Water is not that unhealthy. Just drink water, no sodas. Cut your foods in part. Instead of consuming the complete cheese burger, devour part of the cheese burger, and do not devour the fries! If you do that, (reducing the whole thing you devour in part) you will have to lose a few weight. No mattress time snacks, no inbeween snacks, no snacks interval! Exercise. It's a foul phrase, I realize. You can run in location on your possess dwelling room, or room anything you opt for, for approximately 10 mins an afternoon, and it is going to be simply the identical as getting out within the scorching solar doing it. Sit ups, leaping jacks, even DANCING! You can activate a few MTV, and dance your fats away. LoL! Good success!!

Slim fast COULD work for a girl that age, but the consumption has to be monitored. In other words, if she doesn't exercise regularly and prefers to take slim fast as a substitue for a couple of meals, then it could be ok but it HAS to be monitored.

A 13 year olds body is not fully developed and slim fast, although filled with vitamins, doesn't have the complete nutritional value of a meal.

I think it would be a better idea if she took her food intake and spread it out over the day - instead of 3 meals, do 5 meals, but over one day and add a little exercise to it.

Slim fast gets old really quick! But you can incorporate it into your diet to help you lose or maintain weight. You can also do the cereal diet you see on boxes of special K and total. You need to make sure that you eat one "real" meal a day, get vegies fruit and protein & lowfat dairy in your diet. I like to meal replacement drink made by a company called EAS. I think it tastes better than the slimfast. ( it has lots of protein in it)

As for how much you eat, say you want to weigh 130 lbs ( an example) so you would eat 1300 calories a day to get down to that weight and to maintain it once you are there.

There are height and weight charts online so you can find out what your health low and high weights are based on your height.
I posted a site for you to look at.

Last but not least, please tell your Mom or Dad that you are reducing your calories and trying to eat healther. They can help you, by trying not to buy keeping tempting snacks in the house, but more fruits and other heatlth snacks.

Good Luck!

Slimfasts work for everybody! You should burn more calories than you take in.Do not take those pills because my friend did and when she she woke up 2 days later, there was a tapeworm on her pillow. So yea do not take pills, they are very unhealthy for anyone. You could probably lose about 10 lbs. in 3 weeks if you exercise very often and have small portions. But if you exercise frequently and don't have big portions you should lose about 6-7. Good luck!

Slim- Fast may work for a 13 yr old, but it's not recommended. sounds to me like you've got a special deadline (3 weeks...); instead of trying to lose a lot of weight in a hurry by using Slim-Fast or diet drugs, etc, diet and exercise are the BEST ways. by diet i mean change the way you eat, when you eat, and the foods you eat, whichever seems to be the biggest weight-gain factor. and please, do consult your pediatrician; they are your best source for weight loss tips.

Drink one shake for breakfast... one for lunch... have a sensible snack in between... like veggies, yogurt, cheese stick and then a sensible dinner like chicken with veggies. Stay away from red meat, fatty fried foods, butter, oil, sugar... stuff like that.

It is a very healthy way to lose weight and yes I'd say it would be okay for a 13 year old.

I wouldn't do Slim Fast. It's highly processed. Your best bet for losing weight is to eat foods that are not processed, or minimally so. Fresh foods as much as possible. Also, increasing your activity level would help.

First, assess how much weight you really need to lose. And remember, it's not a question of "do you want to lose weight?", but rather, "are you willing to do what it takes to achieve your goal?"

Good luck!

Well, some people might discourage you from drinking Slim-Fast, but still, that's better than a can of Diet Pepsi!

Still, you can't depend on Slim-Fast alone to do anything significant for your weight....it comes down to long-term changes & habits in your diet and life-style. I know it sounds boring and simplistic, but I know it is best: please discuss this with your doctor for not only good answers, but the best answers!

A thirteen year old shouldn't be so consumed with their weight that they need to go on a slim fast diet (unless of course they're obese)
