The moniker is a less common alternative to just plain Christ, which is a derivation of a Latin translation of a Greek translation of the Hebrew title Messiah, which means "the Anointed." In the Geneva and 1611 versions of the New Testament, the word "Christ" is often preceded by the word "the."

Christ is the Greek word for Messiah. But it's not really His last name, it's what He is. So it should be "Jesus, the Christ"

In hebrew Christ means "annointed one". Its not his last name though. Back then his full name would have been something like Jesus of Nazerath or Jesus Josephson (Joseph's son)

Christ comes from the Greek word 'Christos', which means annointed one. Christos corresponds to the Hebrew 'moshiach', which means messiah. It isn't really a last name, but a title identifying him as the messiah.
