I refuse to let my 6 y/o have anything to do with them. She's received a few dolls and one of their weird looking cats for b-days and x-mas and I take them away after a few days and toss them hoping she won't ask about them, which she hasn't. Now that we're back to school shopping, she wants a Bratz backpack and other things. I think it's because her friends all have Bratz but still, I just don't like the way they look, they remind me of prostitutes and I don't think a 6 y/o or any age should be playing with them. What's your opinion? What ever happened to the good old days of Barbie when she was a doctor?

I think they're bad examples of how to dress and behave, I don't let my daughters have them either.

Oh, girl get over that. Don't deny her a chance to fit in with her friends. That's the craze. My daughter is 8 and she has several of the bratz dolls, she watches their cartoon, she has several of their cars, beauty salons and houses. It's just dolls. If you do your part to teach her the right things in life, she will be alright. Try watching their cartoon they do exhibit some good values. The dolls are the sign of time with everyone wanting thicker lips and curvy bodies. There are even Barbie dolls that are made on the same style as the Bratz. Honey, they are just dolls. A doll is not going to hurt her as far as her sense of herself that she will get from you. By the way, my daughter wants a Bratz backpack and believe me I'm looking. She will be alright. Also she is at that age where just lbeing ike your friends is important. When she gets older she will want to be different than her friends. So ease up, mom.

My niece has them. Their feet comes off. Most if not all are without them because of either being lost or misplaced. It is easier to get aq Barbie shoe than a Bratz foot. My personal view is that they have way too big of a head just like My Scene Barbies. Those are really too extreme in their design for my taste. However, she does know the difference between the Barbies and Bratz as being for play only. I tell her that she is better than anyone of them.

I despise the Bratz dolls - I understand the pressure to fit in & get along, but I refuse to buy them for my 7 year old. They are slutty looking, I hate the way they are made with the big heads, fat lips, huge & totally unrealistic eyes & let's not even get into the whole feet thing. I did compromise in one area - they have the Bratz babies - they are not too bad looking in comparison; my daughter has one of those & she "has it" now but doesn't really play with it. I think she just had to "have it". lol Steer your daughter away from the Bratz merchandizing that upsets you - there's Hello Kitty, Supergirl, Strawberry Shortcake, tons of disney stuff. There's bound to be something she'll like that isn't Bratz/Slutz. My daughter isn't really into playing with Barbie yet - she still likes her "baby" dolls & stuffed animals. (for which I am grateful!) I'm sure you can work out something with your girl - at that age, they will still listen to mommy (a little!!)! Good luck - why don't ya'll come over & we'll have a tea party with our dolls & bears?!

My daughters (ages 8 and 5) love the Bratz. I think they are some of the prettiest dolls available. I don't think that there is anything wrong with the way the dolls look, either. My kids watch the cartoon and I've even bought them the DVD's. I think that kids will be kids and even though you don't like them, just look at things this way: she'll be over them before you know it.

I like Bratz, but if you really think Bratz is offensive, try showing her another doll that might be good for her. Bratz is not the only doll in the world you know.

Yes many mothers feel the same way, I'm not a mother but I would never in a million years want to give a little girl incentive to look like a hooker. Wal-Mart stores have actually cut back on what Bratz products they sell due to complaints by mothers. You are certainly not alone!

I totally agree with you. I don't let my daughter have them for the same reason. Some advice, though. Tell her why you don't want her to play with them. This may be kind of tricky, but you know your daughter, and I'm sure you can tell her what she needs to know. Also, letting her have them even for a few day does encourage her to want them. Tell potential gift-givers that Bratz are on the porbidden list. If she gets one anyway, or in error, simply tell your daughter, "you know, honey, that we don't play with these." That way, she won't be upset that one of her toys disappeared, and wonder where it went and want it back.
I admire that you stick to your values even in tough situations! Keep it up, girl!!

Much Love!!

They're awful!!! Luckily my daughter (5) has no interest in them what-so-ever. What's even sicker is now they have Bratz Babies, which basically look like the regular Bratz (eyeliner, lipstick) etc., but they are babies, they crawl, have diapers and baby clothes. What kind of sick toymaker wants to sexualize babies! Plus, you are right , they look like prostitutes. Why encourage that look in a young girl? I'm glad they are not very popular in my son and daughter's school.

Also, contrary to what alot of people are saying, it's o.k. to tell your child that they can't have something that they want. It's another life lesson, you can't always get what you want. Otherwise, they might grow up to be greedy and whinny, always begging for "things" - like Veruca Salt in Willie Wonka!

Honestly I wouldn't want my lil girl to play with most of the typical girl's toys on the market. (She is only 8 mos. old so I haven't had to deal with this yet).
I feel as you do, the Bratz dolls are lame, a waste of money and promote that looking like a spoiled whore is okay, even cool.
When she gets old enough, I think I'll get her a football or a ball & mitt.

I think Bratz dolls are really cool, but a 6 year old doesn't need to be playing with them. I think once she matures and realizes she shouldn't dress like that she can play with them, but it's the mother's call.
