Why do people TRY and read so much into everything??? Have you ever seen Spongebob having any type of homosexual sex? If you have, then yes, he is probably gay. If not, then I would say that he is just a happy positive CARTOON CHARACTER. And I think that anything positive is NOT a "bad influence" on children. I think the bigger question is "is being closed-minded a bad influence on children?"

PLEASE....leave poor Spongebob alone! So what if he is gay?
That doesn't make him a bad example! I don't understand why parents tend to worry so much about television characters. I mean I don't think kids should watch an excess amount of t.v. only because they become couch potatos and they need to use their minds and move their bodies. But as far as being influenced, come on, children know that t.v. is not real. Didn't You when you were growing up???? How about all the stuff back in your time or my time...Freddy Kruger...Jason...Michael Meyers?? I don't know about you but it didn't make me grow up and go out on killing sprees...How about the Road Runner? I didn't torment any coyotes either when I grew up. Love your kids, teach them right from wrong, spend time with them...that will have a bigger impact than some Gay sponge! LOL

Spongebob is not gay. He has a crush on Sandy, initially. Then he decides to just be friends, I guess. He still gets jealous when Larry the Lobster shows off to her. Also, he took Pearl to the prom.

And no, this show is not a bad influence on children. It's much better than most everything on television right now.

You must not have developed much in the way of maturity since elementary school huh? It's a cartoon people. They didn't go out to make a homosexual cartoon, it's just homophobic retards that see them as such. Get a life. Let your kid watch it you want or don't if you don't, but I bet you let your kid watch Yu Gi Oh which has a card character of the succubus, but you most likely don't know what that is do you? Retard. SO, your kid won't be gay he or she will just be violent and or a rapist, b/c your kid will be smart enough to look up what those characters are in mythology and then the possibilities are endless. Good job idiot! Oh, and I DO think that your closed-minded self (for lack of better vernacular to say how much of a bigot you are w/o getting vulgar) is a bad influence on children. Way to go!

My kids watch Spongebob. It's a thoroughly annoying cartoon as are most of the cartoons they create for this generation of children. He's weird and has really bad manners but, seriously, it's a children's cartoon. Why do people always have to take the innocence out of everything in the world today? Luckily, my children have the Boomerang network on cable to allow them the privilege of the classics like: The Flintstones, Jetsons, Smurfs, Snorks...

SpongeBob hasn't really shown any signs of homosexuality, but it wouldn't make a difference whether or not he is. It's not a theme in the show anyways, so, no, it's not a bad influence because it's not like he's committing crimes or something.

I don't think Spongebob is gay. His character has never had a female he is into though. I don't think he is a bad influence on children, but I don't think he is educational either. He is purely entertainment.

As an adult, if you read THAT much into CHILDREN'S entertainment, you need help. Kids enjoy Spongebob, my 3 yr old daughter is one of them, and she doesn't even know what it means to be gay. The only way a child could even possibly think something like that is if some sicko, like yourself, pointed it out to them. Get a life!

Let's think about this a minute.....remember Mr. Rogers? Or Big Bird? There was talk about each of those being gay as well. People are still heavily influenced by stereotypes , even today. Why would it matter one way or the other? Regardless of sexual orientation , Mr. Rogers taught me how to share , use my imagination , and lots of other valuable life lessons. At 35, i still have a soft spot in my heart for Big Bird, always will. Poor Sponge Bob. The reining king of unabashed silliness - these people talking about him are just JEALOUS!!!(just like mom used to tell me about the school bully!) It is my opinion that he teaches our kids how to laugh and have fun!!!!
