Chances are you spend so much time in the comfort zone because you've been burned outside of it too many times, First thing you should do is work on letting that old stuff go and realizing its part of growing. Secondly realize that the more time you spend inside the comfort zone the less you accomplish. And Finally if you're religous remember that nothing will happen to you that isn't already going to happen to you. You can't avoid it anyways, So you might as well try new things and put yourself out there.

It can be a question of circumstances (for me personally). Sometimes things change completely and you have to change your life, and at this very moment you start to take risks and to make changes to your advantage, as you suddenly became aware that if you let everything go without your active participation you may continue to be unsatisfied for a long period of time until the next time the circumstances will make you act. On the other hand a strong motivation or a vivid target/aim appeared in your mind spontaneously can make you go out of your comfort zone and act.

You dont have to take risks at first. Take up a responsibility or make a commitment and then stick to it, Dont let the Gods deviate you from the chosen path. Then eventually start taking small risks knowing that it will be you who holds the absolute responsibility of failures.

Run naked through your local supermarket, just kidding.

Find something you wouldn't normally do and go for it. Start with small things and work up the big stuff. Once you find out it's not so bad it'll get easier for you.
