BACK UP EVERYTHING!!!
When you install the new operating system it may just upgrade certain features but I would not risk it. Back up everything - insert the new disk restart the computer and it will ask if you want to install - say yes and it will install the new OS. It can never hurt to wipe out the hard drive and intall fresh (unless you lose something important - so back up!) - the computer will function better

Fisrt you need to take back-up all your data from the drive where you want to install the XP pro.

insert the CD into CD-ROM. and follow the on screen instruction.
at some point the installation process ask selecting the drive. select the drive on which you want to install the XP pro. press next. then the process ask for formating the drive. do it be selecting FAT32 file system (you have taken the data backup na).

NOTE : dont install the XP home and XP pro on same drive.
if you want only XP pro not XP home. then select the drive where the XP home is installed.
