Could their be a prophet from god doped up in some ward right now? for that matter if some one came down and said he was god what would happen then?

I am telling you if some one started walking around with a cane saying a burning bush told him to beat people with stone tablets containing laws, he would be picking medication outa his poopoo for weeks.

Sadly (IF) this type of thing happened he would probably be put in the nut house or God would give him the power to stay out of it!

You obviously haven't looked at many of the discussion boards on the web right now. There are hundreds of prophets all looking for a place to expound, dozens of gurus looking for disciples, a phalanx of philosophers finding forums. The days of canes and long robes and stone tablets has passed, although some prophets are still really into burning Bush.
The matter actually involves some semantics. What we call a prophet is specifically someone who foretells the future as seen by the eyes of God and limited by the prophet's understanding of the message. In Islam, it is said that there will be no other prophet after Mohammed and it is rather risky business to say otherwise. In Christianity, the last prophesy was supposed to have been the one in the book of Revelations, so Christians aren't expecting another prophet either. Both Muslims and Christians are only anticipating the end of the world, the Final Judgement. The Jews are still waiting for the Messiah who will be a prophet, but will also be a great leader who will re-build the Temple at Jerusalem on the bit of real estate that is currently the site of the Dome of the Rock- that rock being the altar of the old temple and the alter where Abraham almost sacrificed his son Isaac. In none of these religions is there a place for a prophet who would speak to all of humankind. If such a person did come along, he or she would be rejected (harshly) by Christians, Muslims and Jews whether he or she was a genuine prophet or not. Historically, most people who were later recognized as prophets had hard times while they were living.
As for a person claiming to be God, that isn't what a prophet does. That's a job for an avatar or guru- more of a Hindu thing. Buddha was the last great avatar and Buddhists still have access to his teachings, so they aren't really expecting a repacement any time soon. In the Sikh tradition, avatars are always with us. Their Swami-ji lineages are passed from father to son, but they don't claim to tell the future, merely to be manifestations of God.
There is a guy who was originally named Frank Johnson- later Da Free John and still later Adi Da- who claims to be an avatar and he has a lot of disciples, but what he says doesn't make much sense to me. Whatever. Emperor's new clothes. Maybe I'm just not hip enough to handle the truth.
In my world, all sincere seekers can hear the voice of God, but there is still a test to find out whether you are hearing God or if you are just crazy. If the voices tell you to hurt people, you're a nut-case. If the voice tells you how to love and respect, it is safe to follow what it says.
I hear conflicted opinions from conflicted humans all day every day. I look at nature and how the world works and I look at humanity and how humans operate and I see that humans are really messing up the world. I know some things about psychology and I can tell when someone is not telling the truth, but at the same time, I can often see why a person is being untruthful. In the interaction between eternal truth and individual truth (and trying to conceal individual truth) I can hear what people are trying to say. In my heart, I know that to love is the greatest good, especially to love and respect those that I can't always agree with. I'm the closest thing I know to a genuine living prophet, but God only speaks to me through the unfolding of my life. Neal Donald Walsh (of Conversations with God) and James Redfield (of The Celestine Prophesy) make the same claims for themselves and they haven't been locked up.
This is my long explanantion for a simple principal. Trust what you know is right. Tarot and astrology and crystal ball gazing are all a bunch of hooey, but the rightness in your heart will not lie to you, especially if you love someone. Good luck.

No, they wouldn't lock someone up in a mental ward just for hearing the voice of god....now maybe perhaps 40/50 years ago they would have before most of the Federal funding for the Nuthouses dried up and States mostly had to rely on their own funding to keep the doors open....hence you get what we have in today's society a lot of homeless people wandering around half cracked out of their minds because they lack the proper treatment and medication to regulate their illness due to being put out on the streets when the asylums closed down. These days you have only those people who can afford the stay, who are being paid to be placed their by the State because they are deemed too dangerous to be out on the streets, or who have insurance (but even they are booted out when as soon as their insurance runs out). So, a person that thinks that god is using their head as personal communication device......they would be walking around on the street spreading the word....

Absolutely true! What a nice question...

Today's science and the people following it are so advanced that they will reject such rubbishness. They will be out to prove that there cannot be miracles today. The reason people used to believe in miracles and so the called prophets is that they did not have the power of science and technology at that time. They interpreted stories into reality because someone was a good orator + had lot of convincing power and started believing them.

I do believe in a Super power called GOD but do not believe in the concept of religion / prophets which has divided mankind and has created trouble beyond repair.

No. When all of these prophecies come to pass, there will be no walls, no human with the power to stop God's plan.

Just as there is a Holy Trinity, there is an evil Trinity made up of Satan, the Anti-Christ and the False Prophet. The Bible tells us the signs to watch for. The False Prophet is the counterpart to the Holy Spirit. The evil spirit of Satan will fill many human beings---millions of them---in order to turn people against Jesus Christ.

The Anti-Christ is the counterpart to Jesus Christ, the Son of God. The Anti-Christ will come and mimic the actions of Jesus Christ, fooling multitudes and wreaking havoc in the world. The Anti-Christ will push for complete peace, a unified world bank, a unified military, and there will be NO FAITHS allowed, other than the one the Anti-Christ designates.

Then, God will deal with Satan by throwing him into the Lake of Fire, closing the door, and throwing away the key. Satan was created by God, just as all the angels were---just as everything was. Satan has lost, but he is taking hundreds of millions of people with him to hell, just as he took many angels in heaven with him to hell.

I think if he was actually from God then he would be able to overcome people who would want to put him up. I also believe there are many people who claimed to be a prophet and are probably thrown in a mental institution instantly.

I also believe that no more prophets will come until the rapture.

It is no wonder that religous prophets and the mentally ill are so easily confused for one another. After all, both are essentially operating out of a delusional state. What is truly amazing is the number of otherwise sane people that will competely suspend their intellects and start to gather around a "Master."

Kooky as that may sound if some actually did that.....I think it would work more like this today: If in public he may be arrested for disturbing the peace...then evaluated by a shrink. The shrink culd NOT admit him to a hospital unless he was a physical threat to himself or other. I don't think "kookiness" with get him in the nuthouse alone.

No. He wouldn't be confined to a mental hospital. A prophet like the one you're describing came in already and the people in the US elected him twice to be their president.

in a sense, we as God's children all "hear his voice".
We were sent to earth to be messengers of God, in other words, prophets. The people who crave attention are the ones who go around saying they are prophets;; God doesn't expect us nor want us to bring that kind of attention to ourselves or to his word;; just to let it be heard in subtle ways such as kind acts.
