Evolution and natural selection don't satisfy me. İt can't be a tactic because spider isn't that smart. İt is a very smart move, not like the other examples of natural selection. ( The butterflies which have the colour of trees or leaves survive and this speciality passes to their babies etc...) Who gave this instinct to the spider?

those are not proofs of a "designer", they are all explained through nature

how is this not like other examples of natural selection? it's a SURVIVAL instinct, that's what natural selection is all about. This instinct is passed down to offspring through generations of spiders.

PS - spiders aren't the only creatures that "play possum"

"I don't think spiders are that smart" is an opinion, a matter of taste, an emotional judgement, and has nothing to do with the scientific reality of the matter. Note that all creationist/ID type arguments rest on mere opinion, that opinion being "too complex." It is the worst kind of horseshit.

Instinct is not given -- it develops through natural selection and individual need. If a trait or instict is some sort of "blessing", then how do you explain genetic mutations?

This is a completely baseless argument. I could go on, but really don't even care to argue this one. Have a nice day.

I assume you are completely irony-free when you speak of not being that smart..

WTF are you talking about. What spider pretends to be dead. What because they sit motionless until its time to strike. Seems like an inteligent, energy efficient stratagy to me.
