If you want a really white northern breed, you may need to get a Samoyed.

Find a good breeder referral by going to www.akc.org or talking to people at dog shows.

You can also find info about the breed clubs on the akc site - they probably have a rescue group where you can get an older dog for less money.

The best breeders will be members of their breed club, promoting healthy dogs with great temperaments. They should ask you a bunch of questions to make sure their puppy will be getting a good home. If all a "breeder" seems to care about is whether your check will clear, you can be sure he won't care a week later when the pup is dying from distemper or parvo and you want your money back.

Well, hello! I'm a Minnesotan as well. About two hours south of you, actually. I've had a Malamute before, as well. They are wonderful dogs! I will go find you a link or two... Be right back.

These are all in Minnesota...

Remember to ask a lot of questions about health, temperament, and longevity. Also, ask for references and call those.

If none of these work out, you can go here and try another state, like Wisconsin...

Best of luck to you!

Congratulations to you on making a decision about the breed of dog you want. I trust you've done your homework and learned which qualities about the Malamute would make it a suitable pet for your lifestyle.

You can go on line to find reputable breeders, but bear in mind that just because someone has a nice looking website doesn't make them a reputable breeder.

I would research breeders themselves. You can do this by going to the American Kennel Club website and going to the section on breeders of Malamutes.

Best of luck.
