I would stay home until they started school since those early years are so important. After they start school though is when I would go back to work since I would have nothing to do at home :)

I was a stay at home mom for 7 years. We didn't have a lot of money and would have benefited from the extra income but I wanted my kids to have a mom at home to raise them. It's a choice most moms have to make and I think I made the right choice for me I went back to work when my youngest was in school full time. I started out working part time so I could put them on the bus in the morning and be there when they got home, now I'm working full time and they've adjusted well to the change. The only thing I regret about staying home with them is that when they started kindergarten they were behind all the kids who went to daycare. Easy solution to that is to try daycare or pre school 2 or 3 mornings a week, take the time to go to the gym or do your grocery shopping or go meet friends for coffee.

I'm not a mom but I would stay home the first month to take care of my kid but I do not want to be a stay at home mom for sure. I like to have an active life. The reason I say this is because I plan on opening a store and its not like i can just stay home and watch my kid when i have a business going.

I have a 15 month old son and LOVE being a stay at home mom. He's learning so much right now and I feel like I"d be missing out if I wasnt here to see it all. I do think that I will go back to work part time, but not until I feel like I'm ready.

I am currently a stay at home/work at home mom and I love it. My daughter will be three and I have been home for almost two years. I get the best of both worlds, spending the day with my little girl and playing and bringing in extra money each month to help with bills etc. I run my business right out of my home and work around my daughter, not the other way around. It is great for me! http://www.rjkdermer.fourpointmoms.com

I am a disabled stay at home mom and I have to say it has its good points and it's bad ones. I get to see my girls grow up and be there for all the important parts of their development but now that my oldest is in school full days and my youngest is only in part of the time it leaves me too much time on my own. Your social life suffers if you're not able to have a good group of people around you and you feel closed off a lot of the time. It is not a decision that should be entered into lightly but it has many rewards.

I stay at home because I believe that God gave us our children to raise and let them learn from us, not to send them off to be raised by someone else.
I babysit children every day, in addition to my own, and I see them without their parents, and how different they are when their parents are there. I think that a lot of moms make up for the guilt of leaving the kids by letting them have whatever they want.
Instinct tells us that we should be with our kids. It has nothing to do with going crazy or "watching" our kids- they learn from what they see. You don't know what that babysitter is doing all day. If we would all learn to sacrifice a few things to do our God-given job, then the world would be a better place, with a lot less problem children.
Also "me time" is when the children are gone and grown, not while we are supposed to be raising them.

I am a stay-at-home-mom, and for me there are good and not so good that comes out of it. I absolutely love love love spending time with the kids, especially my 3 month old. I get to see him do new things everyday. I would not trust any day care at his age. If something were ever going wrong at day care i want my child to be able to tell me. My 3 year old went to day care and loved it, but he might be starting school next year. I want to start working within the next couple of months i just don't know when. I graduated from a tech-school when i was pregnant so i still haven't been able to get to work. I get tired of being cooped up at home with the kids. We can afford me being home but i think i just want at least a part time job. Anything just to get out for a little while. At first i thought i would absolutely have no problem being home, but after a while you start running out of things to do. Maybe its just me but only a while is good. Who knows, maybe when i start working i'll be wanting to stay home! :)

I'm a stay at home mom now. I wasn't for the first 3 years of my son's life though. I had a really demanding job, and would even work all through the weekend just to get things done. I wish I hadn't gone back to work 3 weeks after giving birth. I missed alot of firsts with my son. Sure I'm spending every moment with him now, but I missed his little baby years. Now he's always wanting to play or wiggling outta cuddles lol. On the upside though, my husband really connected with him. He never knew his own father, so it was really touching to see how much he devoted to him.

I was a stay at home mom and it was ok. I think it's good to be at home with your kids, although a lot of women can't due to financial situations. I would get a part time job though just to have something going for myself.

I love staying at home with my son! When he was little- until about 8 years old i did stay home and it was wonderful and I believe that has given us the close relationship we still have today and he is 15. If finances allowed me to stay home now- sure Id love too! Id love to be home baking cookies and cleaning for my hubby and son! BUT now a days it just costs too much! It takes both of you to get it done! But I definetely would if i could
