Abortion is not mentioned in the Bible at all. The one of the most common arguments from fundamentalists comes from the Ten Commandments, where we are told "Thou Shalt Not Kill." But this begs the question of "kill what?" Does this commandment mean we cannot kill anything, even a fly? No. It means we should not kill another human being. Of course, the Fundamentalist believes a pre-born fetus is the same as a full-term human being. God, however, does not. In Exodus 21:22-25 we read that if a man accidentally kills a pregnant woman, that man should be condemned for committing murder. However, if he only kills the fetus - that is, if she miscarries - he is not condemned for murder. Clearly, then, God does not consider the pre-born fetus as being the same as a human being, in which case the Commandment of "Thou Shalt Not Kill (a human)" does not apply.

Good point, although someone mentioned that abortion was not around at the time of the bible. True but the bible says that it will not be changed and that is the way it is so God had to have known that abortion would cme about at some point in time. Good job!

Most people who support certain laws usually don't take the time to research why those "laws" exist. Historically, abortion was not illegal. Medicine women were able to help women with herbal treatments for birth control and to cause abortion. The Catholic church was concerned that population control would threaten new converts and issued the edict that "abortion was wrong." This is why, today, Catholics are forbidden from using birth control, marrying outside their religion without hassle and many efforts to stop it and any resulting children are required to be raised Catholic regardless if one parent practices another religion or none at all. So, the *main* reason behind anti-abortion stance is not the value placed on human life, but the overall sustainability of a population who has been emotionally blackmailed into ensuring the longevity of the Catholic church. Clearly, the value of a child's life means nothing when they play such a huge role in covering for the priests who have destroyed so many young boys and girls and all the ones who've raped nuns in convents. It's equally bizarre that one condemns abortion as "wrong" but hitting, beating, spanking, striking and emotionally battering a child is not only "acceptable," it's encouraged. Is a human life only valuable in the womb?

Pro Lifers are playing games with the souls of their followers. The bible is clear that those who lead others while falsely claiming to do the Lord's work will be punished. And you are correct the Bible nowhere says that abortion is murder. And in fact if it is murder then God / Christ is guilty because he uses abortion in the form of miscarriage to make his earth a better place. And it is clear that God is a loving God and therefore does not allow abortion to be killing. My God protects the fetus and sustains it without death to the soul even though the fetus is itself terminated.
In the future the soul of the fetus is again used for God's purpose.
A hateful God would make abortion murder. Such a god should not be followed.

Killing a grown up human being is different than killing a pre-born foetus. There are degrees of punishment for killing, even in our man made courts of law. The punishment depends on the severity of the sin. Was it pre-meditated, cold-blooded, in a fit of rage, or just for revenge etc. Even though there is life in a pre-born foetus, its still not the same as killing a fully grown human being. But in this passage, nothing is mentioned about killing a foetus. It is mentioned that if there is pre-mature delivery, then that person should be fined. Even here, it is not a question of killing of the foetus. It talks about pre-mature delivery and the trauma that goes along with that. The Bible doesn't condone killing. Read the Bible carefully.

Abortion changed into no longer huge-spread between the Jewish human beings in Jesus' time. in the course of the time even as the Israelites got here to the Promised Land, those already there have been responsible of idol worship. They worshiped Ba'al and fertility gods. the significant manifestation of that worship changed into the sacrifice of toddlers on the fires that were lit on the altars for the idols. They used herbs to reason unborn toddlers to be born early. subsequently, they supposedly had a purer sacrifice. This changed into the reason that God had the Israelites wipe out the inhabitants, because of over 430 years of kid sacrifice in worship to those idols. because the Israelites later took on a similar idol worship, they were judged by using God. each and every time Judah or Israel fell, it changed into because of this idol worship, which continually blanketed the youngster sacrifice. it truly is often reported interior the Bible as "the sin of Manasseh", after a king that changed into quite heavy into the idol worship, until eventually he repented and became decrease back to God. as a rely of certainty, each and every time interior the Bible that a king's reign is summed up, it makes word of no matter if he stopped the idol worship, or no longer. it is going to recount no matter if he tore down the severe places of the idol worship. Jeremiah 18 & 19 deal extremely completely with this sin, as he's advised by using God to take the leaders to the valley of Ben Hinnom (the Valley of Blood), the position they dedicated those horrors, to pronounce God's judgment on the country.

For one thing the translation of the word is not kill but murder, thou shalt not murder. "Accidently" is not murder. Taking a pair of scissors and jamming them into the base of an infants skull can hardly be an "accident" Tearing a child to pieces with surgical tools while watching it try to roll away on a sonargram is certainly not accidental, nor is it humane, nor is it right. It's legal but it's darn sure not right. How dare someone like you try to speak for a Holy God and say He "doesn't mind!" He will punish these cruel murders. Don't think otherwise. SHAME ON YOU!

Here's the kicker...abortion wasn't around when the Bible was written. That's why it's not in there. In the book of Psalms, we are told that God knew us before we were conceived. This means that before the egg and sperm meet, we are a child of God. Abortion is taking away a child of God.

They still consider it murder and thus covered by the 10 commandments. Remember, these types like to twist the meaning of the bible so it fits with their own private agendas.

Nice try. Thou shall not kill means thou shall not murder. Abortion is murder. Stop trying to give power to the woman when all the power lies in God. Seriously.

By the way, if its not murder, than why is it that you will see your unborn children in heaven. Because life started at conception. I agree, read the Bible CAREFULLY.

Thank you Grandma Susie.
