Interesting question and I don't know the complete answer. I have four columns. You might try increasing the pixels of your screen to a higher setting. It will make things smaller and you can crowd a lot more onto the screen. I use 1024x768. Right click on your screen, click properties then open the "settings" tab section and increase your screen's resolution.

I don't know for sure if or how you might manipulate the programs columns or if there is a way to group them, something like grouped programs in folders.

Right click on the taskbar and click on properties. Click the start menu tab and click on Customize and under the Programs sections is where you can choose the number of programs on your start menu.

As far my experience is saying, NO!
so, just go to CONTROL PANEL>ADD OR REMOVE PROGRAMMES> and delete all the unnecessary programes. U will b able 2 see ur necessary programmes.

I don't know about extending the amount of rows; I don't think you can. What I would recommend is sorting your various applications into sub folders.

Put all of your games in a Games folder. Place all your maintenance tools in a Maintenance folder, etc.
