Well, first, I need to address the fact that someone told you to skip breakfast.
Don't! You need to eat three healthy meals
As far as lunch, I'm in the same boat as you. I was at 275 and am now down to 235.
The best thing I can suggest is a Soup, Salad, Sandwich combo.
You don't have to eat it all, but it is a cheap and filling meal, and it is healthy.
Get some sort of leafy greens (Romain, feild greens, spinach) toss it with a vinegarette. Only a small amount.
Eat the salad first, then have a small bowl of soup.
Progesso makes soups with 100cal or less per serving. make sure to only eat one serving.
Then, end it with a sliced turkey and swiss on wheat bread. You could add some miracle whip, iceburg lettuce, and tomato if you would like.
This is balanced, healty meal, and if you do mnanage to get through it all and still be hungry, have an apple to even it all out.
You'll be full for a lot longer and feel better about yourself.
Enjoy.

Diets do not work in the long run. Get a healthy lifestyle instead. Get educated on healthy eating. It will be a plan for health, weight & nutrition to be life long. Diets & fads may at times work temporarily, but often people gain the weight back plus more weight, or come to a stand still. Please, keep up the good work, but instead of dieting...eat fruits & vegetables, drink water, eat a well balanced diet, avoid fats, simple starches, and sugars. Best of health & fitness. Remember the goal is not to be a certain number on the scale, nor a certain size of clothing...they are just benefits you receive from a healthy lifestyle. The goal should be to be healthy & fit. Best of health.

Your best bet for long life health is to eat ALL fresh natural foods and you can't go wrong. Keep it balanced.
I was obese and now I am thin. I ear six times a day (very small light meals) and exercise three times a week (cardio and swimming for toning).
THe secret is finding foods that YOU like that are healthy and not following someone elses plan because it is not from your heart.
For lunch I would have two boiled egg's with a couple of pieces of toast YUM.

Did you know that Celery has no calories, but eating actually causes negative calories. If you are dieting you are already on the right track. I would stick with that.
What I like to eat for lunch is a cream cheese and smoked Salmon sandwich, its light but filling, and almost no fat. Its simple to make and tastes great, the only downside is smoked salmon is a little expensive but what the heck?

A nice salad and a piece of toast. Remember to drink some orange juice. Do not drink any sodas at least for a few weeks and drink plenty of juice and water. Water is said to be the elixir to losing weight. Congratulations on losing some weight and remember to be diligent in your dieting and exercising.

Chinese---Broccoli and Beef. Something without a lot of the sauces. I
know when trying to loose pounds, salads get old quick. Try your local supermarkets deli. They usually have a plate lunch. Choose the vegetables, then add some fresh fruit.

Congratulations and best of luck to you.
The key to long-term weight loss and then keeping it off is variety and feeling full.
Eat plenty of raw veggies (no dip), and a few servings of fruit each day. Have lean protein (boneless/skinless white meat chicken or turkey or fish), and whole grains (make sure they are whole grain -- no multi grain, must say whole grain).
Choose fat free substitutes for a low fat diet. Avoid all processed foods and limit intact of sugar (beyond that found naturally in fruits). Drink at least 96 ounces of plain water (lemon or lime for flavor).
Get moderate exercise for 1 hour EVERY day. Alternate cardio (brisk walking) with weight training (free weights). Include core strengthening 3 times per week with Pilates or Yoga.

Don't listen to the chick who said to skip breakfast. If you skip meals, your metabolism will slow down in order to ration energy throughout the day. Breakfast is the worst one to skip because you've already been fasting for 8 hours. So say you skip breakfast. You sleep for 8 hours, then eat lunch at noon, 4 hours after you wake up. That's 12 hours with no calorie intake. If your body gets used to that schedule, you may lose 10 pounds to begin with, but by the time you're 10 years older, you'll find it 10 times harder to burn calories. Your body will be CLINGING to them! CLINGING!!!!! So when it comes to skipping meals, just say no. Eat healthy instead.

Sometimes I find that salads aren't filling enough for lunch. I'm going to have a veggie sandwich (lettuce, tomatoes, cucumber, red onion, bell pepper) with honey mustard and a slice or two of Swiss cheese, all on French bread.
Yum!
