well, i have often wondered how the world would have turned out a different plsace altogether if cinema, or 'moving pictures' had not been invented.
our whole lives now revolve around this technology. had we not had the technology behind this, we would perhaps have evolved in a different direction: for instance, real plays, theatrics, live songs, performances, conversation places (clubs). these exist even now, but they are just a small part of our lives. our major life is devoted and dictated by soundwaves, airwaves and corresponding modern tech.

I live out of my laptop. I do my banking on it. The accounting for my business is on it. Mapping software for my trucks is on it. I rent my movies online. I get music off of Yahoo. My brokerage account is on it. Investment research is done on it. I read the news each day -Columbus Dispatch, Investors Business Daily. And of course there is Yahoo Answers. Compaq Pressario 2500 - P4/2.4gigaherstz/192 ram/40 gig hd/801.11g wireless.
I know those aren't the top stats but I'm not a gamer and this machine has been a constant companion for the better part of 3 years, at home and on the road.

I would have to say Cell Phone even though mine is a piece of $hit I still don't know what I would do with out it in an emergency.

I would have to say Satellite TV/Cable, I love all the channels I get.
