how are they fighting for our freedom in Iraq and and Afghanistan? If we hadn't invaded Iraq, how would my freedom have been affected? And who doesn't support the men and women over there? Not supporting the war and occupation is not the same as disregarding the Americans who are over there fighting. It is more in the hopes that thousands of young men and women won't have to die and be injured again for wars that are seriously misguided (and have nothing to do with defending freedom in the United States).

It's not that the troops are not supported...it's the Government who sent them to War, that is not supported.
You would have to be a real @ss wipe, not to support our troops?
By the way, they are not fighting for our freedom.
One of the few names that have been given to this War, is Iraqi Freedom and it's a shame that our Great Men and Women have to die in a Country who doesn't care a bit about the USA!
The War in Iraq has nothing to do with our freedom being threatened here in the USA. It's just a lot of Conservative Bull S__T!

They are fighting for no good reason, they are doing their job and doing it as well as they can with what they are equipped with. I do support the troops but I do not support the war they are fighting as it has nothing to do with my or anybody else's freedom in this country. It is a war about greed and enriching the already very rich and powerful. The government has lost direction and needs to be taken back by the people in the next election.

So many people say they support our soldiers. If you have a yellow sticker on your truck and say your support your troops - guess what, you don't. If you are trying to get them pulled out before they finish the job, guess what - you don't - because these same soldiers will be fighting the same battle at another time and location (anyone remember Mogadishu). Support is more than sticking a sticker on a vehicle, or posting a pro-troop rhetorical question online. Send someone a care package, volunteer at a soldier recovery center - or the greatest support of all, volunteer your service in the military and help us get the job done sooner. All services are accepting new recruits.

I think the premise of your question is skewed. I think there is a very small minority out there that actually doesn't support the troops. They are pacifists and liken soldiers to baby killers and mass murderers.
I think that the majority of anti-war protesters would tell you that their protests and actions are not against the troops but against the government and its policies. In their mind they are supporting the troops because they see their actions as removing troops from harms way. I think that most of them also believe that the Actions in Iraq and Afghanistan have nothing to do with our freedom, but everything to do with political and corporate gain.
This is America and the pacifists and the anti-war protesters are entitled to their opinions no matter how misguided they may be. IT is what makes this country great.

I think this question was also asked some years ago. Only back then it was the Nazi party asking it of the German people. I DEMAND freedom b/c that is what has been given to me by the Constitution of the United States of America. What cracks me up is that you support our troops who are "just doing their job" but would protest in a second an abortion doctor "just doing his job".

In my opinion it is not that people don't support the troops, it's that they don't support the reason for fighting anymore. The American people have watched Bush make stupid mistakes and watched the number of american lives lost rise, and yet he still has not pulled our troops out. My husband is in the army, I support the troops one hundred percent, but there are many troops that do not feel that the war is justified anymore. When the soilders are questioning motive, have we forgotten what we are fighting for?

I support the troupes but i don't support the administration. Freedom isn't free but we don't have to die over this either. We are civilized and have technology way beyond most. In addition to that I think as a whole we expect anything and everything and confuse the ability to fuel our SUV's when we want as a freedom. Also for the record the problem we are facing is one religion doesn't fit all.

I am ex-military. I was in for seven years. Ours is a volunteer force now. We choose to serve, and I didn't choose to serve, so that some people could use vague conceptions of "freedom" as a sort of weapon to try to bash others into shame or agreement with the policies of whatever administration. If your concept of freedom doesn't include freedom of conscience, then you care more about feeling righteous, than being free.
I am also a historian, and while the role our military has played in protecting our liberties is honorable, we have come to hold it in such high esteem that it has eclipsed reality. The freedom we enjoy today is chiefly owed to those whom fought the good fight through social activism. For instance, It wasn't our military that forced our government to allow women and racial minorities the right to vote, and that's just one example of thousands.

I think most people support our troops and the service that they are doing to defend our freedoms, it's the war that people don't support.
