I dyed my hair red last night and eveytime I color it red, it fades too quickly. I would like to keep it longer without having to color it ever month-6 weeks. I was wondering if anyone knew how to keep the shade I have. It is a reddish brown.. sabrian or something... I bought that pantene pro-v for red heads. Would that help?

for keeping your colour vibrant inbetween colourings you need to use products that enhance it i.e glaze. you have 2 options
1) John Frieda
-use his Hair Glaze for red hair. works wonders
-start using his line of shampoo's & conditioners specifically designed for your hair colour.[either red, brunette or blonde]

2) Panteen ProV
-they also have a line of glazes for red hair
- use their shampoo & conditioner for red hair. It enhances the look & feel of hair for either red hair, blonde & brunettes. Use the one for red hair obviously :-)

I find that getting it done at the salon lasts longer then getting it done at home.

Unfortunately, red is a colour that doesn't attach itself to hair very well. Use colour safe shampoo, the pantene pro-v that you purchased should be good. Wash your hair every other day if possible.

You'll probably still need to do touch ups every 6 weeks or so to cover your roots and refresh the colour, but by doing all this, it might not fade as fast.

All reds fade quickly. It's the worst color to use on hair.

The pantene will help. Avoid swimming in chlorinated water and don't stay in the sun for long periods of time without a hat.

Get any shampoo that has red in it...sally beauty supply...all reds fade...don't wash your hair everyday...Most hair salons carry shampoos for that reason in every color as well. It is supposed to help.

good luck !!

Washing your hair in luke-warm-coldish water helps it stay longer without fading. Also, if at all possible, avoid the sun.
