i have gone out with a guy for about a year when he broke up with me by saying he had a new gf. i still like talking to him and he has told me he still likes me. but he invited me to an event and when i got there he ignored me so the only other person i kind of knew and talked to was his gf. then like 30 min after he actually started talking to me. and when i try and contact him he will answer one day but then the next he wont even talk so i leave it at that. about a week goes by and then out of no where he txted me saying whats up and asking how i was....and sometimes asking if i wanted to hang out. whats going on?

You two dated for a year then broke up? Sounds like you may have grown apart. When that happens people do move on. If he had a new girl friend it sounds like you were his security blanket, someone to be with while he looked around, Some guys and gals do that because the relationship is comfortable and there is a freedom to explore other personality types.

Best to just let him go and not worry about his behavior. If you want to go "hang-out" that's fine, don't expect too much though. Just remember he asked you. You on the other hand probably shouldn't be calling him because he supposedly is with another girl. Make him work, and not take you for granted, don't make it easy for him. He was the one who left the relationship, remember?

He is playing with your feelings. Most probably that other relationship ended or is ending and he remembered you.

You can be a friend but do not expect much from that.
