Freebird...I so agree with you on this. Because there are people from each side who try to antagonize. Some may not even be aware that they are doing it.

And you know what is interesting is that the atheists feel that the Christians are really nasty to them and the Christians feel that the Atheists are really nasty to them. Each side does not see that they are contributing to the fact.

So, the real question here is, can we respond without being offensive?

Walk in love because a soft answer turns away wrath.

In other regions, religion is more prominent. There would be less agnostics or atheists. From babyhood on, they are not given a chance to wonder about other possibilities.
What's sad is they don't have the truth either.

At least here, there is freedom of choice.
We just need to save them if we can.
And of course, peacefully.
When things heat up, back away, even 'shaking the dust off the feet', if neccessary, as instructed in the Bible.
If they won't listen to us, maybe they'll listen to another christian, later and seethe light. Hope you can use this answer.

Atheism and Christianity are the two biggest, and most out spoken religions/religious expression in the English speaking world, and the rest of the communities out there really don't care what others believe they are just trying to live as best they can. I get into the mix from time to time only when I feel up to dealing with dueling dogmas.

In the west, which is who is primarily participating here, 80% of the population is Christian. The remaining 20% is comprised primarily of the nonreligious (15% atheist, 5% other).

These are simply the two largest segments of the English speaking world, so it stands to reason they would focus on eachother.

That said, I actually don't feel the need to defend my position. If it fails to defend itself, I'll just change positions.

Christians, Jews and Muslims all hold to a belief in one God. They have more in common than Atheists who directly oppose this in their belief that there is no God.

In the Western world, Christians are in more abundance than Jews or Muslims. In a forum like this, you're more likely to get responses from the dominant group and its opposition.

lol yea it seems like all it is Christians vs. Atheists. I guess if anyone else attacked Christianity as hard as atheists do then they would probably defend it against them too.

It's mostly just boredom on the part of the atheists. Christians, on the other hand, actually believe that they need to save people.
