My stepmother searched for her daughter. They are now reunited and do have a good relationship BUT there are only a small percentage of these sort of relationships that work out.
If you are trying to search for your birth mother the first step is your original birth certificate and the adoption agency/social that organised your adoption - ask for your file they should give you it.
You can then try Summerset house in London which holds all the birth/death and marriage certificates for the UK that will enable you to search to see if your parent had any more children and if she married therefore what her last name is now.
If your birth certificate gives an area where you were born you can also try searching there.
Friends reunited has a special area dedicated to this type of search.
It is legal for your birth mother to leave messages for you to receive once you are 18 - my stepmum was one of the people who campaigned to allow this.
Good luck - I hope it works out the way you want x x

I hope you are careful. If you are currently living with loving parents, be prepared to meet parents who may not share the same values. You may be searching for parents who "love" you, and I would advise you to prepare for the opposite as well.
Most adoption records are sealed, and unless your biological parents are willing, to be honest, it will be a long, tiring, and probably unsuccessful search.
I hope you find peace in your life if this is really bothering you. I know it can be difficult never knowing your biological parents. But if you still wish to search, I wish you luck and hope you find them. Maybe it will be amazing...who knows? Just be prepared for anything.
If you want, you could ask your adoptive parents about which agency you were adopted from. From there, you can contact the employees and ask them if they could contact your parents. If your birth parents agree to meeting, then maybe that would be a start. It won't be easy, though.

Sorry no - I don't know how long ago you were adopted but it will be much harder for people who have been adopted in the last 5 - 10years to locate there birth parenets. My younger brothers and sisters who were adopted all have new birth certificates with my parents names on instead of there birth parents!

If you are thinking of looking yourself, have you asked yourself why you need to find her? The guy who built my house didn't create the family home that it is;my kids, my husband and I did that. In the same way, my adoptive parents helped me to grow into the me I am happy to be today. If my birth mother wants to find out about me, she can probably trace me through records and I would be thrilled to meet her and tell her that she could be proud of the me I have become; but why on earth would I hurt the feelings of the two people who held me with love through all the good and bad times and gave me the most precious gift of their unconditional love and support? Why would I make them feel that what they had given me wasn't enough?
If you really, really feel you need to know, then good luck;but keep it in perspective.

My mother in law had one of her sons adopted and I know one day she would love to find him but the timing isn't right as her husband wasn't the father, they were seperated at the time.
You could always try the Salvation Army or if you know her name and approx age you could try either friends reunited or it's sister site genesreunited.
Good Luck, I hope you find true happiness.

A friend of mine did.
She lived in the Caribean so he went there on holidays / Vacation.
You have to be certain that you need to find missing parent, my friends adoptive parents were very upset when he started looking.
