There is only one correct interpretation of the Bible. Very few can do it without some training. Interpretation is an exact science. If you start wrong, you will end wrong.
Most anyone can read and get a basic understanding of the Bible. Going deeper requires strict rules, break those rules and you will get lost (mis-interpret).

It's a common attitude among the people of today to think that everyone is entitled to his own interpretation of truth; let everyone find his own god -- no matter how different those gods may be. No one thinks it strange any more that there are many different interpretations of the Bible and many different beliefs, ignoring the fact that, because of the differences, they cannot all be true.
Like all others, I once had my own interpretation of the Scriptures also. But the many different individual interpretations will not let us know the true meanings of the messages in the Bible. The true interpretation can only come from the author of those messages.
We have all been taught religious principles and interpretations of the Scriptures since we were infants whether or not we have ever stepped foot in a church building. It would be of great benefit to all of us if we would investigate the origin of these teachings and beliefs because of the important consequences involved. If we find that our beliefs have come from the Spirit of the Christ, we are no worse off for investigating. But if we find that our beliefs have originated with the spirit of this world, we benefit greatly by finding out in time.
Many of today's religions hold just as firmly to their traditional beliefs as they do to the words of their Scriptures, and are very afraid that they will err from the truth if they should make any changes in them. If all Christians throughout the past centuries had been too afraid to make changes in traditional doctrines and scriptural interpretations, then the whole Christian world of today would still be Catholics. But many of the Protestant sects changed drastically from Catholic tradition, doctrine, practice, and interpretation of the Word.
I know that many theologians and Biblical analysts have adopted a rule of thumb to use when interpreting Scripture. It is to interpret everything written in the Word of God after the flesh (literally or in a material way) except where a spiritual interpretation is clearly and very obviously indicated. Only those who are not guided by the Spirit and forced to rely upon their own inadequate mental processes will need such a rule of thumb for interpreting the Scriptures.
These interpretations have been handed down to us from men who were obviously under the influence of the spirit of this world as seen by their deeds, and these interpretations are meant to prevent us from seeing the truth. They are also the leavened bread that we are warned to avoid eating. Those who partake of this bread eat mostly air and receive very little substance -- and also receive very little nourishment for sustaining Life.
The doctrines and beliefs handed down to us from our Christian fathers concerning the change made from the Old Covenant to the New Covenant has resulted in a most confused and mixed-up state of affairs for today's Christian churches.
Probably all or most of these organizations make the claim that the Holy Spirit guides them in their decisions. Yet most have refused to consult with any Spirit regarding decisions, as did the Apostles of the first century. They have built their houses upon very shaky foundations of their own interpretations of truth, rather than building upon a sure and sturdy foundation of the Knowledge of God as given by the Spirit -- and not relying upon one's own ability to comprehend anything.

that's an excellent question.....we could take it a step further, even...
why do different denominations of christianity interpret the bible so differently? that is to say, while presbyterians and episcopalians and lutherans and catholics and mormons can all agree that "thou shalt not kill" means the same thing to all of them, there are other things in the bible that none of them will agree on.
generally, i think the problems with varied interpretation of the bible all are rooted in the length of time since the bible was written, transcribed, translated, re-transcribed, re-translated, as well as the fact that much of the bible was not written contemporaneously to the events described therein.

because the way the bible is writen is confusing, it contradicts itself, so different denominations interpret it differently. and also some faiths dont believe in teh bible as strongly, because the original bible was written in i believe its ancient greek...or latin...crap...owell one of the two therefore it cannot be translated compeltely accurately into other languages. as well as its a definite possibility that the church changed things, added and took out things to fit what they wanted the world to be like and so it was the greatest profit to them. thats why i personally can't trust the bible.

"Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it is abomination. If a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination: they shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be upon them."--Lev.18:22, 20:13.
"Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonour their own bodies between themselves: Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, Who is blessed for ever. For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature: And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet (AIDS and a multitude of sexual diseases). And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient; being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity; whisperers, backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents, without understanding, covenantbreakers, without natural affection, implacable, unmerciful: Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them."--Rom.1:24-32
Not hard to interpret...
You just have to use your brain a little bit and compare the New Testament with the Old.
MAT.24:24 For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect. [These kind of people will be most famous with those who don't study the Bible and to those who are prone to believe anything they hear.]

People interpret the Bible to mean whatever they want it to mean.
This happens because the translation is not in clearly spoken, modern day language.

because people who came from different background and religious upbringing varies in their perspective of looking and interpreting the bible. It is true we should accept people for who they are but should we desire that they got better?
