I would like to know people's favorite type of beer and why. A well thought out description is what I am after. I want good answers!

LIGHT beer, smooth, cheap. It sounds simple, but that's my favorite type. In other words: Natural Light. :)

My 2nd favorite is Terrapin Rye Pale Ale from Athens, GA(I don't have a favorite...that place will be reserved for something really special some day). Terrapin RPA is made with Rye instead of barley which gives it a very unique taste. It's brewed with 5 different types of hops, so if you don't like IPAs, you might not like RPA. Luckily, it has just hit the markets in Alabama, where craft beer doesn't have many friends.

Also, potentialfoodmaker, Fat Tire is available outside the "western" states. I usually pick up some in Memphis, TN when I'm there on business

I like pale ales like Mirror Pond Pale Ale in the summer as they are light and quite refreshing. In spring and fall, I tend to go with something a bit heavier like a red Cinder Cone or the lively Twilight. Then when winter has its grip on us, I will have something quite heavy like Obsidian Stout or Black Butte Porter. For something massively produced, Hefewezen is also good when the weather is chilly and the blood needs a bit of thickening.

My fave beers come primarily from Deschutes Brewery, located in Bend, OR. However, I have also heard that Portneuf Valley Brewing out of Pocatello, ID is crafting some amazing beers as well.

Stouts and porters. Taste lingers a little longer than the others. I will try any type of beer, just not any brand of beer.

Fat tire is great for an American beer, its only availble in the western states though. For cheap beer, my favorite is coors light. For international beer try some from Belgium. Hoegaarden is absolutely my favorite beer, i prefer it over anything. Hoegaarden can be bought in bigger cities, definately worth trying. Stella Atrois is becoming avalible in more local cities. its another belgium beer worth trying.

Molson XXX - because Canadians make the best beer period. Anytime you have to add fruit to a beer to make it taste better, you should not be drinking that beer in the first place.

I am inordinately fond of Michelob Ultra Amber. It has a nice full flavor without being bitter and I don't feel diet guilty drinking it! On special evenings I drink Blue Moon it is light, fruity and refreshing.

Bud Lite because it's the ONLY alcoholic drink I can drink without getting a headache or a hangover. I drink it over a tub of ice.

i like Guinness...it's got a great taste, and i can drink it all night w/out getting completely stupid.
A lot of people think that it's really heavy fattening beer...but it only has 125 calories, and it's packed w/ vitamins.
Hmmm...healthy beer...drink up!
