he loves annoying and fighting with her. she gets mad and hisses and then tries to walk away. but then he runs and jumps on her back and starts biting on her. he won't leave her alone. I know he's still a lttle kitten and wants her to play with him, but I was just wandering when to expect him to stop. my 2 year old is declawed and he's not. she doesn't really try to fight back either. she just growls. they're both spayed/neutered. I got him from my local SPCA so he's been fixed, vaccinated etc. So when will this end, and why doesn't my older one fight back? I'm not worried about it, I'm just curious.

Cats are very territorial. I recently adopted a male cat from my local SPCA, and he too, out of the blue, decides to jump on and attack my two female cats. Keep in mind that a cat needs to be handled (petting, holding, coddling, not playing) constantly by a human from about 8 weeks on to become more gentle and docile. If the kitten hasn't been handled in that manner before you adopted it, or if you continually play with him without "calming" him, he'll be more agressive towards other cats. I have made it a point to hold my new little boy kitty several times during the day and it has really helped. He still finds the need to pounce on the other cats from time to time, but the severity is lessening as time goes by. Eventually, he'll understand that your other cat doesn't care much about interacting with him and he'll leave her alone. It's also important to pet and coddle your other cat in front of him, then pet and coddle him afterwards. This shows him your attention is equally distributed to both of them and you show no favors to either.

Well, as the mom of 12 boys and 6 girls, let me tell you the boys are BADDDDD. (smile) I have siblings that fight, and every time I brought in a new rescue, the hissing, fighting, that is MY momma stuff was on. You are correct in blaming alot of it on his being young, but it just seems to be a boy thing. I have a couple of boys who are just awful sometimes, and I have had cats for over 50 years. Then I have some boys that never get aggressive. I do know that when the young ones reached about a year or so they seem to settle down and be "bad" only once in awhile. One of my females, as I write this is acting like this is the Indycatapolis Speedway. She is only 6 months old and just got spayed two weeks ago. It should settle down for you, and as one person mentioned, your female will be in a "mood" one of these days and knock him silly. There will also come the time when you will catch them sleeping together, and bathing each other, of course they will jump up and act like you are seeing things. Have fun and enjoy.

like you said hen, he just wants to play. how often do you play with him? try getting him some new toys - like a moving mouse or something.
He should grow out of it by the time he reaches about 12-18 months. I think he sees your female cat as his mum and is probably wondering why she wont play back.
Your older cat just knows hes a kitten and trying to play with her (clever kitty) She wont fight because to be quite honest she probably cant be bothered - she just wants a quiet life (just like most cats, and women for that matter)
He'll get bored soon coz shes not re-acting to his behavior.
Hope this helps, good luck. x x

he is a kitten and has lots of energy. the older cat will let him know when she has had enough of the kitten. she is just trying to be nice to the kitten. i wouldn't be suprised when she kicks his butt. lol. kittens are so cute when they are young like that. don't worry he is being a kitten and has lots of energy.
