yes i have braces just got them 6 days ago though yes i will have to wear the rubber bands 24/7 too so dont feel basd i have a horrible overbite!!!! never had mine tightened yet. keep up with good oral hygen though because if not all ur teeth will fall out early and u dont want dentures my mother has those and she dont like them they give her sores in her mouth so she cant eat very well shes stuck on soft foods like me when i get them tightened or just get my braces on. i have heard bad stories about the rubber bands (elastics) theat they hurt really bad theat they feel like 100 extra pounds and u cant eat very good with thme at first because ur mouth is sore

I had braces for two years. It is very important to wear your rubber bands. Your orthodontist should tell you how often you should wear your bands - follow his directions - I'm sure it's okay that you forgot to take them off one morning. It should hurt when they are tightened, it means they are doing what they are supposed to be doing and your teeth are moving - after a week or so the soreness should ease up. Take a tylenol if the pain is too much for you. I have beautiful straight teeth now because I had braces. You will too! Just dollow the rules and you will be so happy with the results. One thing I want to stress - FLOSS!!! I know it sucks and it's really difficult, but I didn't floss and when I got my braces off my gums were irritated, bleeding and swollen and as a result behind one of my teeth the gum is receding, which means the root of my tooth is exposed. That is no good, and I have to take extra special care of it now. Keep with it! You will be happy!!!

Yeah, I have braces and I'm wearing the rubber band too. They told me I had to wear mine 24 hours a day and I've had it for a week now.

I have braces, and I went through a period where I had to wear those painful rubber bands. I really hated them, and was glad when I got them out. You have my sympathies, but I had to wear mine 24/7 (except when I ate and brushed my teeth).

i had braces, and i know exactly what you mean. i disliked the rubber bands its painful for a few days until your teeth get used to it and same story all the time huh!. .. . you should wear 'em as much as you can but i know i had to take little breaks throughout but try keeping them on. did your ortho give you a gel you can use for the pain? that comes in handy too!

Yeah...I have them too. And like I everybody I know has them or has had them. Trust me, I'm the master of experience with braces. Write a little reminder to put them in and take them out. It will be over soon if you just follow directions. Have a great day!
