Main character/s encounter a problem (danger, evil). Must escape or be helped by other character/s. Must undergo some personality transformation such as gaining confidence, overcoming fear, etc. Usually a love interest, but not always. Usually a happy ending. Lesson/s learned by one or more characters. Evil usually triumphed by good. I love them and I am middle-aged!!

You are introduced to a nice person / animal, such as Cinderella.
Something bad happens...the way she gets treated - she has to do all the work and make the ball gowns, but can't go to the ball.
Then something nice happens...the Fairy Godmother...etc.
Now sometimes things finish here, or another little bad twist can come in...Cinders locked away when the others try on the slipper.
but in the end, the heroine/hero lives happily ever after.
