Because christians do not know about other religions? Fear of not knowing?

Buddhism is not a religion = no god.

Hinduism though you may think there are many gods, theres only 1 god.....the other 'gods' tat you may see are merely 1 god's many attributes; e.g. death, life, riches, warmth, peace, birth, fertility...etc

Muslim, jewish and christian faith = same god...no idea why christian folks like to fight each other....

...etc.

I'm a Christian and I am not threatened by any other religion, In fact i am very open minded about the other religions. Alot of Christians aren't threatened by other religions most are just set on their own beliefs and they think that the whole world shoud share their beliefs in order do go to heaven. That's not true for me though. I think that as long as you follow the 10 commandments the best you can and you lead the best life that you can that you have just as much chance as the Christians. Alot of religions fail to see that for the most part they believe in the same thing just a different outlook on it

Deep down inside, most Christians know that their religion is just a story, a fiction. Thus, the fear comes from two places:

1. When push comes to shove they won't be able to intelligently defend their religion, since it is all made up anyway. Every answer by Christians on this Answers section is a good example that this is true.

2. Since it is all made up, if a better, more pleasing, more interesting fiction comes along, people may be attracted to it, and they will lose members. There really is no defense against a better crafted mythology, so they are afraid of the competition.

Well... there may be other Christians that are threatened by other religions, but not this one. Why would I be threatned by something that isn't true?

What does bother me is when people go into another religion (or athiesm as the case may be) not knowing anything about it and think it's right without any reason or knowledge. I hear people from all kinds of beliefs all the time talking about why "you're wrong and I'm right" without a solid basis of truth, just their own opinion. They can't even hold an intelligent conversation about what they believe.

They come and say "the Bible is a book full of lies and myths" without knowing the history of the book that proves its authenticity..

The question should be "Why other religions so threaten by Christianity?"

We're not threatened by them.

It's a common "debate tactic" with many people today to classify anyone who disagrees with them as being "afraid" or "threatened," and (no offense) I'm getting sick and tired of it.

Using words like "afraid" and "threatened" only serves to try to stifle debate -- to imply that anyone whose opinions differ from yours only holds those opinions out of irrational fear.

Employing such rhetoric and such "tactics" is, in my mind, an indication that the other person perhaps doesn't have a real rebuttal or argument to make -- so they must resort to attaching labels like "afraid" and "threatened" to their opponents.

Besides, if anyone is "afraid" and "threatened" these days, it's the atheists and the anti-religious secularists.

That's why many of them whine about being "offended" whenever a politician mentions God in a speech or whenever someone says "God bless you" in a public place.

nicely, speaking no longer as a Christian, yet as a Hellenic Polytheist, i might say that your guess approximately religions vanishing that immediately if toddlers did no longer have non secular coaching of their colleges isn't a hazard i might take. i might sense like i became stealing you cash. Intelligence, scientific Discovery and Freedom of thought have been pretty valued in lots of Pagan societies (such because of the fact the Greeks in the previous they have been converted by capacity of stress) so i stumble on your arguement approximately "faith" specious -- extremely as you look no longer able to tell apart Christianity from all the different religions for the needs of your diatribe insulting the mind of non secular believers.

It is a fairly natural instinct to fear what we don't understand. With many religions accepting, exploring or even at a minimum understanding another religion is taboo.

In that sense some may become ignorant to other religions and cultures withing the world. This ignorance can manifest itself as a fear, or threat.

I'm not threatened; in fact, I find it fascinating that most religions, at their core, have almost identical sets of values and creeds.

What's threatening is when people twist their religious beliefs to justify misery, mayhem and destruction for others not affirming those beliefs.

Who says we are? It is not the Christian countries that ban any other form of religion. It is not the Christian countries that kill those who leave Christianity for another religion. It is not Christian countries that teach all other religions are wrong and their followers should die. Muslim countries do, even our allies like Saudi Arabia. Maybe you should ask them this question.
