Given the present state of the economy of NK, and without the aid of other communist countries, it would be a short war. China is not interested in such a war and Russia is also trying hard to tone NK down. An Atomic weapon is expensive to produce and would rapidly drain their resources. At one time we believed China was incapable of producing four such weapons (during the cold war) and under the administration of the Kims for nearly 40 years, their economy has dwindled a great deal...But the great danger is that NK might launch a warhead to the US and the numbskulls in Washington might retaliate, thus forcing China in a defensive mode, (remember that NK is a small peninsula jutting off of China). China has a population of 1.3 billion people, and cutting that in half for males (actually birth rate is 115 males to 100 females) and then dividing the number of males by 3....one third is too young, one third is too old but it leaves a potential army of the same size as the entire of the population of US...man, woman and child. We can talk of technology, and weapons but America has to keep its eye open to repercussions from such an attack....the attack would only spur actions from China and Russia. The complexities of the international politics and self defense are being over-looked but the war that could trigger mass radioactive damage to the whole planet must be avoided.

Not even close, the United States is the most powerful country in the world. Not to mention if it came down to it, the United States could use nuclear bombs it if really had too. They have 12 aircraft carriers -- a huge number especially considering the country that has the 2nd most is Russia with only 2 that are in working order. The United States would win -- no doubt

at the moment,i dont think the u.s can cope with another war.it will end up like the british empire did,u would defeat n.korea,but i certanly have to have a gd think weather you would defeat china,

If we attacked N. Korea , we'd have to fight China too .
That's what that little madman is counting on .
Hopefully, China will get tired of his B.S. and take him out , quietly.

No but they would destroy s.korea and possibly japan if they went nuclear. which is why we haven't attacked them. Oh and the fact that we're bogged down in Iraquagmire.

Theoretically speaking, I think they would, and as someone else pointed out they would Nuke the south and Japan. I feel their people would have the stomach for it, not the US people.
