Atheist - One who disbelieves or denies the existence of God or gods

I don’t Deny the existence of god...I just don’t know what to believe...everyone seems to have labels for everything now-a-days
What is the technical term for this?

Without knowing at least some of what you believe I can't say. It sort of sounds like you are agnostic, except that you believe in God. Do you believe that Christ has come? If so, then I would say you have the beginnings of being a Christian. If you believe Christ will come (for the first time) then you might need to investigate Judaism. I don't know much about Islam, but they don't believe Christ was the Messiah, but just a prophet. If all you believe in is God, then you might need to investigate further to find the religion that's best for you. I don't know much about Non-Denominational, but have been told that they accept pretty much anything as long as you believe in God.

Most people would lable you an agnostic..but in truth..an agnostic says "you cannot know". Yet, in fact..you can know. If you believe there is a "god" of some sort somewhere...what you are doing is seeking to find which faith system would preserve and solidify all that you can know about existance. So you seek..therefore you are simply a "theist" seeking the truth. So examine them all...Hindu, Judiasm, Islam, Ba'hai and Christianity and etc. Just be wise in your seeking so that you are not decieved. Truth is truth emphatically and there is an absolute no matter what people say. I would deal with the faith system that most gives you those absolutes. For me it is the message of Christ through the Bible...KJV. Believing that, of course, I would naturally lean toward offering that solution to you as well, because I have studied other faiths and they all seem lacking to me. Not so with the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. I wish you well. Love in Christ, ~J~ <><

I think you are still searching. Most people in your postion consider themselves agnostics, which is sort of inaccurate.

Agnostics believe in God, but feel that knowledge of the Almighty is impossible, due to the scope of who God is. I've included a wikipedia entry link below, so you can read up on it.

Don't let people get you down about not being sure, mlb - religious faith is just about the most personal thing there is, and no one church is going to fit what you belive in. Most people who are a part of a church were raised in it, and don't really know any different. You are lucky in that you can explore and find out what best fits you, avoiding a lot of the Charismatic, personality-driven Christianity that seems to shout the loudest nowadays.

Be careful that you don't let yourself get fooled by semantic arguments. Listen to your heart, and not someone trying to appeal to logic or shame. You do not need to belong to any one church to be a good person; indeed, there are a great many, very bad people who are followers of one church or another.

A lot of people I know that are searchers like yourself, go to a lot of different types of religious services - Jewish, Islamic, Christian, buddhist, etc. Learn a little bit about them; you won't really have a hard time finding someone there to tell you about it (you might, however have a hard time getting them to shut up ;)).

In the final analysis, do that which feels right for you, and do NOT allow yourself to be pressured any one way or another. You aren't going to go to hell (or its equivalent) for not choosing one religion or they other, unless you're just an evil toad. lol

If you're not sure that there is a Higher Power, you likely would be classified as "agnostic".

If you believe there is a Higher Power and you honor it in your own way, but it doesn't necessarily fall into any of the "defined" religions, I would consider you "spiritual but not religious", which is IMHO a perfectly valid set of beliefs.

In many cases, labels cause more harm than good - you don't HAVE to have a label for your beliefs, aside from "Yours."

You might be an atheist. Technically, and athiest does not mean someone who denies the existence of God, it simply means any person who does not have an active belief in God. i.e. not-a-theist. If you have no specific belief in God, you are an atheist, even if you would not claim a belief that God definitely does NOT exist.

Thanks For Your Question :)

Well since you don't deny the existence of God then you know that you are a slave to God and your purpose in life is to worship him only .

There is only one thing left ...what religion will you be ?....well this question I can't answer because you are the one who should seek the true religion that you will find peace in it, but for an advice search for the book that doesn't contradict itself, logic or human nature, search for a book that was never changed search for the book that has all the answers to your questions search for the book that got scientific facts....search for the book of God ...I found it :)

You're not agnostic either...
Agnostics remain undecided because they are convinced that there is not enough evidence to believe in God, although they have not ruled the idea of God out.

YOu don't even know yet. I don't think you have a label except, "undecided."

Agnostic:

1) One who believes that it is impossible to know whether there is a God, or
2) One who is skeptical about the existence of God but does not profess true atheism.

Dear Asker :-)

I can tell you that thx to yahoo-answerers, I much better know which "category" i "belong" to:

http://answers.yahoo.com/dir/index;_ylt=AgUWczPq_MstI2002oLu137sy6IX?sid=396545231

I suggest you to keep doing the same! :-)

I really understand that you need to feel you belong to a "category". I couldn't believe I was alone in my way of thinking about religions.

I really feel I am a secular person, and a "star enthusiast" (astronomy - just happy to watch the stars, pics of the cosmos, without wondering further).

I say "secular" instead of "non-theist", ie "who is not involved in any religion - who is not a religious believer nor an anti-religion.

((( GOOD LUCK!!!))) I am sure you'll find your own "light" :-)
