My husband and I are looking for something oceanfront and PRIVATE - perhaps with maids and chefs. We love to surf, live music, nature, and having our own little love bungalow. Planning to take this trip in 2010 - so any ideas are welcome. Our budget is undetermined - but probably around $10K.

Grand Cayman in the Caribbean is wonderful, and fits most of your interests, though I am not sure how good the surfing is. My wife and I loved it on our honeymoon and want to go back. It is very clean, has wonderful snorkeling and natural areas, and there are a number of resorts and rental properties. Out of all the Caribbean isalnds, this was the nicest and most romantic in both of our opinions.
For better surfing, you're going to want to look at Hawaii and some of the Pacific islands, as none of the Caribbean ones are well known for this.

Stay close to home and go to Palm Island Resort. It's off the coast of Florida. Very private and very luxurious.
