Birds do not have the natural blood clots that mammals do. At pet stores, you can get something called "quick stop". The quickstop that you can pick up for cats and dogs is the exact same stuff as the formula for the birds, just the bird's is more expensive.
Baking soda is likely to hurt the bird more than help. Flour or Cornstarch are good alternatives. Wash the baking soda off immediately and get flour on the poor bird's wound, then get to a vet asap.
In the future, make sure to have quick-stop on hand. When trimming primary feathers and nails, a bird can easily start bleeding and die from blood-loss because they don't have the ability to clot up properly.

Only an Avian vet can help your bird. The wing must be set properly for the bird to be able to fly again. Think of the birds wing as your arm being broken. What could you do if your arm was still broke? What about the pain and infection setting in. The skin must have been pierced to have bleeding. Without help the bird can go into shock and die. It is cruel to have a bird and not be able to get it help when the need comes along. You can not treat such injuries yourself and definitely not by using baking soda.

baking soda was a good choice also ice will help to stop the bleeding. too much blood loss, or bleeding that doesn't stop after pressure is applied will weaken the bird and can lead to death. Also you could try burnt flower a tip I got from a friend who ownes a pet shop. I do recommend a vet as soon as possible. good luck to your feathered friend.

See my site: http://www.starlingrescueandcare.bravehost.com for what to do for bleeding and a broken wing (click the page link: injured or ill birds). After you have followed the instructions, it would be very wise to get him in to an avian vet if you are able ASAP!

In people to stop bleeding, put a wet teabag on the place where it is bleeding. Something in the tea leaves makes the blood clot.
Then get it to a vet.

it is not any longer hard. Have someone gently carry the chook wrapped in a washcloth. Clip each and every feather with cord cutters,mm making particular no longer to reduce any arising feathers. undergo in options purely to do one wing, and also you may go away the spectacular one or 2 primaries on the top.
