I have fleas in my clothes cluttered room. Will I be taking fleas with me when I go back to college?

I adopted a cat a few weeks ago and found out a day later that he had fleas. We've already treated him with Advantage since then. Unfortunately, he had been in my room for a day. My sister is the one mainly getting attacked by the fleas (she has red blotches all over her back and midriff). I just want to know if fleas stay or lay their eggs in clothing that have been sitting in the room for a while. I know they lay eggs in carpets and furniture, but I wanted to make sure that when I move back to college, I won't be infesting my dorm room with fleas that traveled on my packed clothing.

Also, I have a room fogger for the fleas. Should I just leave all the clothing there and then just mass wash them all after I've fogged the room?

Fog, take the clothes to a laundromat, while you're out fog again. Have all drawers and closets open, and nothing on the floor. Put the clothes in a storage shed where they will not get new fleas or eggs on them. Get some small bowls and some night-lights (the kind you put in a kid's room). Each night put a night-light in each room of the house where it can be seen through the largest part of the room. Put a bowl full of water with just a little soap added under each night light. As new fleas hatch (and they will) and as the old fleas come out of hiding from the fog (and they will) they will go to the lights, which represent a heat source (food) to them, and when they jump at the lights they will land in the water. The soap breaks the surface tension of the water (fleas can actually stand on water, otherwise) and allows the fleas to sink and drown. This works extremely well even if you don't fog. Try it! (Especially since your sister is so sensitive to fleas, she may be sensitive to the chemicals in the fog also. So try the lights/water bowls first and see if it helps fast enough for you.)

Well it sounds as if your room is kinda a pig pen.. Clean the room up wash all of your clothing quickly or take to laundromat so it don't infest the whole house and other peoples stuff with the fleas.. wash all bedding and everything Don't return anything back to the room until after you have fogged and vacumed and recleaned everything one more time. keep the cat out of your room or she will get fleas all over again..Treating the animal only helps if you clean the room.. you may have to fog the room again in about a week after doing so the first time to get them all.. If you put close back in your room before doing so..put them in sealed bags so that the fleas can't get back on them..

Fleas have a short breeding cycle...around 2 weeks. So you may be carrying eggs back with you to college. Start asap with your de-fleaing & then do it again in a week.

Yes, remove the clothes, and all bedding and wash as fleas can live in these fabrics. Then, bomb the room as instructed. When my cat got fleas, I bought Sentry brand spray for the carpets and furniture. It was actually recommended to me by the vet and they have products for outside the home as well, since we think the cat picked the fleas up in these bushes in front of the house. It is the best brand and it pretty cheap. You can get it at Petco and probably any other pet supply store. I never saw a single flea again after using this product once.

If the fleas on the cat are dead, the others wont live much longer. Wash all the clothes and sheets and blankets. Also vacuum everything including your mattress. I have found the best remedy to fleas is taking the cat to the vet and buying the medicine they give you. It works in days.

in order not to track fleas with you you must bomob the room and do the wash as soon as possible afterwords in order to make sure they are all dead. put flea powder all over the house just to be sure and then wait 24-48 hrs the take a vaccumn and get up all the powder even the furniture as well. it must be done to prevent fleas from coming back.

yes you will if you don't get them out of your clothes. begin washing your clothes or taking them to the cleaners. once you have all the infested clothes off the floor and such fog the room. that way you can kill all the remaining flees. this way hopefully you won't have to worry about taking flees back to shcool with you. good luck

HOW COME YOUR ROOM IS SO MESSY? YOU SHOULD KEEP IT CLEAN. I WOULD BAG UP ALL THE CLOTHES AND TAKE EM TO THE LAUNDRY MAT. THEN FOG THE ROOM. AND THEN VACUUM IT UP. THEN GET RID OF THE VACUUM CLEANER BAG ASAP.
