Is Leupold correctly pronounced:

lee-uh-pold
or
loo-pold

Yes, I am refering to the optics maker. Where I am from everyone uses lee-uh-pold, but on television, I have heard both. I guess it really depends on where you are from, as to how it is said, much like S-uh-leen vs. Say-leen for the Mustang Saleen.

I always thought that it was lee-a-pold. But I was at a show where the manufacturer was present and he said that was the American butchering of the name. It is definitely Loo-Pold. But hey you say tomato and I say toe-maa-toe

Since this question is in the hunting section, I'm assuming you're referring to the optics (rifle scopes) manufacturer. It's a company name and also the surname of the original founder. To the best of my knowledge it's pronounced "Loo-pold".

It's a proper noun. So it can be pronounced any way.

But loo-pold seems better. And by the way, I think the spelling goes like this: leopold
