During the week, in the middle!
But on the weekend when I do a full bathroom cleaning, I push the bottom up and fold it so it can fit into the holder.

Bottom... It's just neater... plus I grew up with aluminum tubes and usually ended up folding them up to the front as more of it got used, plus if you over squeezed at one spot it would start to break at the corners. So I just stuck with it.

i use the gel toothpaste, so its in a solid container. but yeah the bottom makes more sense to use every last bit of it.
