My father believes in the Rapture and in the End Times. I am wondering when Christ is due to arrive, is there a specific time frame for this happening, or better yet, a specific time? I am also curious as to what it would be like for those of faith if, for some reason, this did not occure? I would really appreciate your honest opinion on this.

It's, um, real soon now. Yeah, that's it. Right around the corner, any time now. Better sit up straight, 'cuz He's coming just about any day now. Oh, but it'll be when you least expect it, so don't think that you can fool around and then get your act together later.

(Seriously:)
The Bible says that Christ's return will be at some unspecified time when least expected:

Matthew 16:
42 "Therefore keep watch, because you do not know on what day your Lord will come.

43 But understand this: If the owner of the house had known at what time of night the thief was coming, he would have kept watch and would not have let his house be broken into.

44 So you also must be ready, because the Son of Man will come at an hour when you do not expect him.

But then it also says that the Second Coming would occur during the lives of the Apostles:

Mark 9:1 And he said to them, "I tell you the truth, some who are standing here will not taste death before they see the kingdom of God come with power."

In short, the Bible says it would have occurred about 2000 years ago, though in other places the Bible is simply vague about it.

There's an obvious benefit to a religion in being vague about something like this - it helps promote obedience to the church even when there are no tangible rewards. One can predict that a religion with a set time for its version of "the Rapture" will not persist, while one that keeps its adherents hanging will persist.

Jesus didnt claim to return for the rapture during the first century cause then that would give people an idea of when He would show. The fact is no one knows and the Father has kept it from Christ because of its jewishness. In jewish tradition. the father prepared the wedding and prepared the bride for his son, as God is doing right now. When everything is ready the father would tell his son to go get his bride and bring her back for the marriage and supper. When the Heavenly Father is done with His preparations, He will tell Jesus to go get His bride, which will be the rapture. If it doesnt happen, then we can get rid of the bible and call God a liar and then for sure know man truly wrote the bible without Gods inspiration.

If you really really want answers to this question you should read the book of Revelation in the Kings James Version of the bible.
He will return and when he comes it will be quick.

Matthew 24:27, 36-46(King James Version)
27For as the lightning cometh out of the east, and shineth even unto the west; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be

36But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only.

37But as the days of Noah were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.

38For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark,

39And knew not until the flood came, and took them all away; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.

40Then shall two be in the field; the one shall be taken, and the other left.

41Two women shall be grinding at the mill; the one shall be taken, and the other left.

42Watch therefore: for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come.

43But know this, that if the goodman of the house had known in what watch the thief would come, he would have watched, and would not have suffered his house to be broken up.

44Therefore be ye also ready: for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh.

45Who then is a faithful and wise servant, whom his lord hath made ruler over his household, to give them meat in due season?

46Blessed is that servant, whom his lord when he cometh shall find so doing.

You see no man knows exactly when Christ is coming back. He does give us signs in his word to let us know when the time is near thoughout the four gospels

MAT.16:2 He answered and said unto them, When it is evening, ye say, It will be fair weather: for the sky is red.
MAT.16:3 And in the morning, It will be foul weather to day: for the sky is red and lowering. O ye hypocrites, ye can discern the face of the sky; but can ye not discern the signs of the times?

Read over Matthew 24 as well--those show you what the signs look like in brief.

There is no specific time when Jesus said he would be coming back. It's a mystery that we will only solve when it happens. As a Christian I can tell you that we believe Jesus will come no matter what. Now it may not happen when we are alive, but it could happen to our children or their children. But we have big faith that he will come.

No man knows the hour or the time. But we are told to watch. you or I could die at anytime so Jesus could come for us today. So you need to be ready at all times. It will be as in the days of Noah were, people marrying and giving in marriage. So in other words somewhere in the world life is going on as normal. We are told to watch.

Nobody knows the time or the date...according to the bible...so it won't mean anything to Evangelical Christians....so i guess its another thousand years of fundraising...hahaha Just kidding...but seriously....It will keep going on and on until something happens...and the farther we go the more frustrated Christians become.

He was due back about 2000 years ago. So to answer your question nothing will happen to their faith if he doesn't return.
