I tried to convince my son that running into the street after his soccer ball is not only dangerous, but that he also shouldn't worry much, since it is rather unlikely that his ball will get destroyed when run over. Yesterday he told me that his friends ball got run over by a car and that it did pop. Is that possible???

Any air flled ball is likely to pop when put under the pressure of a car running over it, however most of the time a car is more likely to swerve to miss the ball or fail to hit it straight on simply causeing the ball to spin off. best for the kid to play in a park instead though!

As a matter of fact....it happen to me once. i was driving along a soccer field and a ball bounce right under my car and the ball didn't pop. Because it didn't went right in front of the tires. its very possible for a soccer ball to pop if it was run-over. but chances are the ball would go under the car and if the ball was still moving it will probably bounce back. Unless the ball went in front of a steam-roller. Then it will be a soccer ball pancake!

Yes it is. I was on a bus once and a group of kids kicked their ball onto the street. The bus slowed down TRYING not to roll over the ball but it did anyway and it popped. The kids were irrate and started chasing the bus and everything! Vote best answer!
