It's simple - the Lebanese Prime Minister for years has allowed Hezbollah to do as they please and over those years the Lebanese Government allowed Hezbollah to become part of their political system - last I saw Hez has a 45% control factor. Yet the Prime Minister would rather let Israel do as much damage to his country rather than have his military capture/disarm/exile Hezbollah to Syria & Iran.
Keep in mind, had the Lebanese Military been patrolling the Lebanon/Israel border and keeping an eye on Hezbollah while not letting them do a premeditated kidnapping = none of this would be happening.....

The Lebanese military appears to be doing nothing in defense against Israel's unjustified slaughter. Why?
Would we allow any country to do to us what Israel is doing to Lebanon, regardless of reason, and especially over only a few individual soldiers being captured (not killed)? My question is not about Israel - my question is about the Lebanese non-response. We hear nothing in the media about it. What do you think?
What do you think if you are not going to do nothing in defense of your own country with an invader from the north, bunny rabbit unison jumping Hezbollah (makes ignorant Muslims think they are militia because they can jump up and down in unison). Lebanese want to act as shield that is the Lebanese problem. Case in point during World War II the Nazi Germans thought they were going to nestled their collect asses against the Alps of Switzerland. The Germans knew full well the allies could not shoot in the direction of Switzerland. Switzerland told the Nazi Germans to leave the proximity of the Swiss Alps or be fired on by the Swiss Army. The Swiss were protecting their neutrality. The point is Lebanon should have done the same thing with the Hezbollah if they did not want to get involved. Lebanon did not keep it from happening, so now they are involved and paying the price for being involved with Hezbollah.
As for the soldiers? Any excuse is a good excuse. Israel, I do not think that they wanted to get involved with another out break of war. On the other hand, you (Lebanon) don't kick a bigger opponent in the shins not expect a response, unless you are ready to fight. It is too bad that Lebanon gets beat up by Syria to the north and now the Hezbollah is using Lebanon as a fighting platform and shield.
In Ireland is the only place that I can think of off the top of my head were there are two christian groups at war with one another, Protestants and Catholics. Other wise the Muslims are the most cannibalistic Religious group that I can think of. Also Muslims are the most profound pedophilic group I can think of too.
P.S.
Most Muslims are into group think, can not think on their own and therefore very ignorant

I think that the Lebanese military is trying to stay out of this conflict. It's not the Lebanese government/military that Israel is retaliating against, it's Hezbollah. And it's not an unjustified slaughter on Israels part. Do you know how many innocent Israelis have been killed by Hezbollah?
I think that the Lebanese government should be doing more than they are however. They may not be the reason Israel is attacking Lebanon, but they have the power to speak to both Israeli and Hezbollah officials and try to resolve the conflict.

Just to address the issue of the Lebanese military response, or the lack thereof...basically, its a matter of simply being outclassed in every way by the Israeli military. The plain truth is that the Lebanese military has been gutted by Hezbollah, leaving it an army on paper only. Since Hezbollah has usurped the military capability of the Lebanese Army, it can do little else beyond what it is already doing, i.e, standing by and watching.
As far as Israel's response being unjustified, there really is quite a bit of background you should research concerning the act of kidnapping Israeli citizens and its effects on Israeli society as a whole, especially when it concerns their military. There really is more to this than you seem to be aware of. Happy researching.

I want here to reply those who do know nothing about what's happening in Lebanon.
first, there is nothing called Lebanese military cuz they are just a few men have no right to carry heavy guns etc..
For those who said it's Hezbollah fault cuz they just jumped out the Israeli border and took two soldiers, first it not the Israeli border cuz it belongs to Lebanon as the whole nations know, second, Israel kidnapped at its jails more than 10000 Arabs some of them were 10 Years and 12 years when that happened and no one could ever take those people out of jails since 15 years, how do you want Hezbollah to act?
in addition, do you think the awful response by Israel by killing kids and women is the right response? 400 killed and 221 of them are kids.
wake up, this is the end of life. be sure.

This is because the Lebanese are counting on the Hezbollah to do the job and also due to the reason that the Lebanese want to end this "war" and not prolong it! However, the Lebanese prime minister said that If Israel will continue it's agression, the Lebanese army will step in!
Right now the Lebanese government is counting on the International community to stop the Israeli Army's terrorist acts!

If the Lebanese army stepped up to the plate their prime minister would be assassinated. The Hezbollah would beat the Lebanese army. Hezbollah is far more capable of launching a war than the Lebanese military. The whole country of Lebanon is a hostage to Hezbollah. Sad truth is Hezbollah is only doing this to bring more Muslims under the cloud of extremism. They did not anticipate such a serious response to their atrocities this time around. This also buys Iran more time to create nuclear weapon. Hold on to your seat it's gonna be a bumpy ride.

The Lebanese Armed Forces (LAF).... Go figure, think I would come up with a better name for my Armed Forces than LAF...
LAF is inept. Hezbollah is more powerful, Israel is more powerful. If Lebanon were to involve itself, they would only get destroyed. The Media actually commented on this when the fighting first broke out. The Israeli UN Ambassador commented on it to the Lebanese Ambassador stating something to the effect that if Hezbollah wasn't an Arab faction, the Lebanese Govt would welcome the attacks and even help to rid them from Lebanese soil.

Don't spread your nonsense. The innocent Lebanese people I am sure is angry that they are trapped in the middle because of the crazy Hezballahs and their bandits. Hezballahs are cowards and they are hidding behind the Lebanese people and that is why lebanese people are caught in the cross fire. They should throw them out of their country because they are a disease. This is not just about 2 soldiers, it is about stopping the terrorist gangster activities that the west has declared on peace seeking people. Israel just needed a reason and Hezballah gave them one. I hope Israel pound them into the ground. Three cheers for Israel.

Israel's unjustified slaughter? Give me a break. The soldiers that have been kidnapped are probably DEAD, and were probably TORTURED for being Jewish.
Do you not realize that southern Lebanon is occupied by Hezbollah (Party of God), who constatnly fire rockets into Northern Israel.
As for Lebanon's army, the government declined to toss Hezbollah out on it's a$$, so who's fault is this?
