Think Zinc. Some people have a tendency to drool in their sleep which can dry out lips or aggravate ones that are already chapped, If that's a problem, they can apply zinc oxide ointment every night before bed. it acts as a barrier to protect lips.

I suffer from this problem all the time. I just use a chap stick. For some people (like me) it never completly goes away. I use chap stick all year round. Vaseline can be helpful also but i find it drys my lips out, so stick to chap stick. If you are male you can always carry it in your pocket and put it on when noone is looking.

The obvious one is Chap stick...apply often, including at night. (And, always when you go into the sun...use one w/ SPF 25 or higher). Once your lips are healed/comfortable if you are female consider wearing MenthaLip from Bath & Body works...it's really moisturizing, feels great on lips, and smells good (helps w/ breath, too). You can get tinted or untinted. Also, consider wearing moisturizing lipstick...and stay away from longwear lipstick that dries your lips.

buy vitamin E capsules. Poke a hole in one and use it on your lips ... within a week, you'll be all better. You can also use olive oil the same way.

I have had the same problem. Apparently this problem is caused by a lack of vitamin B2 (Riboflavin).
